works ok. Because blade is forced by material being cut to sometimes be at a slight angle, you'll have to turn the saw the other way to get it back into a straight line, which means you can never actually use the laser since it would not be pointed in the direction you are trying to cut. Works fine for larger cuts, not good for extremely narrow cuts because the foot has a little upward notch in it, so if you are cutting along the very edge of your workpiece such that the edge is in that notch, the saw will not sit flat on it. ... show more

Of course when you start a search on.. well.. everything, you will of course have the most expensive items and the things that are on the ole' "we want to sell you THIS one if we can get you to buy it" list. But if you keep on searching and finding an item that is, lets be honest, just like this one; the item that will probably do just as good as that shiny overkill item that made your mouth water a few screens ago. I've been buying from my beloved Amazon for nearly ten years.. So trust me. This semi-contractors grade jigsaw does just as good a job as the one that I used for years before a switch burn out on it. Actually, this one works better than the (old out of date) expensive, name brand one that died. The quick disconnect blade socket is a huge design update eliminating the huge pain of the allen wrench change out. It is powerful. The guide that holds the surprisingly good blades (that are included in this package) firmly in line. It comes with some cool stuff. The older models had a bad habit of running an out of square cut; the blade would leave a weird bevel thing going on.. But this one cuts square, and is easy to stay on the pencil mark. It doesn't bind, and it shouldn't bind unless one uses a some blade that are too thick for scroll cuts and sharp turns. One would need a Scroll blade for fancy designs. Anyway, I call this a good buy. Easy on a beginner, easy on those "on again-off again" weekend warrior types like myself. I'll bet it would hold up quite well out there in the full time residential peeps too. Only bad thing I can say about this jigsaw is, is the fact that it doesn't come in a case.. Nada, zip, just bundled in bubble wrap. But luckily for me, it fits perfect in the tuff-case that the old burned out jigsaw (the one that bit the dust) came in all those years ago. Nice comfortable, solid-feeling saw. The miter setting is only 45-90°, nothing in between. The roller bearing support makes for accurate cuts. I cut a price of 2x4 and the cut was nice and straight. The Allen wrench to change the miter is included and is conventially stored on the side of the saw. Blade changes are quick and easy. And NO, you cannot use a Dewalt battery with it. Not even close. It comes with a selection of blades to get you started, but I'd go for a better set. I'm sure it'll do what I need. ... show more

The things I specifically liked were that it was cordless and came with powerful 20v rechargeable battery and charger , the plethora of different saw blades to choose from , the blade light which was very much appreciated in a dimly lit basement , and best of all the very smooth operation proved to achieve very accurate cuts with minimal sanding required . ... show more

I gave the product 5 star before because the price is good and it serves the purpose light, thin cutting. Now I have to update my review to 3 star. I used the saw for definitely less than 10 times, now the battery died: it’s out of power and it doesn’t charge at all. Very disappointed!
