  • Easy to use
Easy product to use, and there's no batteries to keep charged. It picks up all the small debris at the bottom of the hot tub without a problem. The con - it's a little pricey, in my opinion. It does a good job.

  • It's a guy thing
I like this thing for many reasons, but my wife would not. It is a cylinder a bit over a foot long and three inches in diameter with an opening/attachment in the bottom and then the top fixed to a hollow tube, itself with a small hole at the top. Thumb over top hole and push cylinder to bottom of pool. The air cylinder tries to make it back to the surface, so you have to balance it – the upside down version of balancing a ten pound weight on a three foot pole – fun little game of dexterity. My wife would say “give me something that sinks down to where the stuff is, and has a nice little switch”. So you take your thumb off the hole, and it whistles as the water rushes impressively fast into the cylinder. Fascinated, you go back to your school physics and work out that even the one-and-a-half pounds a square inch that you have at three feet down creates quite a flow. Great, a bit of science, and yes, the trash gets sucked up. But it fills within seconds so you have to repeat the fun process several times. My wife would say “give me something that goes down and stays down till the job is done”. (A bit like – oh, maybe better not!). So now you’re done and you leave it by the pool. Next day a few more bits of trash, so you grab it again – “yuck, take that thing away from me – who knows what crawled into that hole overnight to wait to bite your thumb, and it’ll turn septic, they’ll have to amputate your arm, and then I suppose you’ll expect me to nurse you. It does not pump the water out the back of the device while under water, and that gives two distinct advantages. 1) you push it under the surface and you can see your target without the surface disturbance that battery or hose powered units give. 2) Some crud is too fine for any filter - e.g. our tub is filled from a well and the really fine black goes through even a pantyhose filter. This thing you quickly pull out and let it empty on the ground, black stuff and all, where the battery units just let it back where you sucked it from. But leaving it outdoors is the real advantage. Guys know that low voltage battery power and water are a turbulent marriage. Even with a seal, humidity and corrosion of terminals and motor bushes wreak their havoc. So now your wife has finished with it, and she is happy to leave it overnight, but you know that will not do. So you take it in, empty it, shake it, towel it dry and put it in a low moisture place. Next day, there is your wife in the spa with beside it the dripping battery vacuum that she had used to take out one small leaf. You do your best Charlie Brown “Good Grief” impression! This thing has no batteries, no terminals, no metal to rust. You leave it by the pool like a trusty fishing rod. Next day you see that little leaf and a few grains of sand. You sip your frosty, grab your sucking-spear, blow any nasties out the hole (maybe she was right on that one!), masterfully drive it to the bottom of the spa while expertly controlling the bucking cylinder with muscly coordination, aim at your prey and suck that sucker up. Then you lean your trusty weapon against the wall, grab your frosty again and join that lovely lady in the warm water. Like I say, it’s a guy thing. ... show more

  • Works ok hard to clean
Worked fine to suck up material but hard to clean the screen. I cracked the tube trying to twist it apart to clean it. Not a great design. Also expensive for what it is

  • Hand Held Spa Vac
For a small spa, the spa vac does its job. The container that sucks up the dirt and debris could be better made as it’s a thin gauge clear plastic. Once this cracks it won’t work!

  • Love it!
Does exactly what it says it can.

  • Great purchase for my hot tub
I got this vacuum specifically for my hot tub. I live in the mountains and thus I get sand and grit (pine cone stuff) dragged into the hot tub at times. It always sinks to the bottom and I don't like seeing the sand. The vacuum works easy enough. You put your thumb at the end and shove vacuum down and try to suck up what you can. You will have to do it several times to get it as it only lasts a few seconds before you need to do that again. So for what I needed to use it for, it works well. The stick on the end is a bit long so it can reach deeper down but I don't think it would go far enough down for a big pool. ... show more

  • Seems a bit weak but I can't deny that it works!
I'm so used to power tools that I can't help feeling this is weak. But it really does suck up sand and other sediment so there's no complaint here.
