Audioengine make some good speakers but these little speaker stands are cheap. They are hollow as you can see on the images and the plastic is thin. They do their job and if they were priced at around $10 I would give it 5 stars but because this product is so substandard especially coming from a company with a good reputation I give it 2 stars. 1 star for the fact that it does what it supposed to do and another one so I don't feel too stupid for buying them. ... show more

    • Need a model with less severe angle
These are a good product and a great idea, unfortunately, it turns out in the real world that most people don't need such a severe angle for aiming speakers up or down--just a gentle angle down from the top of a bookshelf or up from a desk surface. While it's good to have the option of 2 sizes, it would really be more helpful to have the option of a design with a minimal angle... ... show more

    • Expensive but does the intended job
Too expensive for what they are but they do their intended job. I have an older pair of Emotiva ASM 3B speakers that already have a silicone base so these stands just helped angle them upwards. The sound quality has noticeably improved since sound produced by small desktop speakers can be very directional. Overall a good buy but to belabour the point, I wish they were half the price! ... show more

    • Don't skimp on the quality of your speakers by getting other stands
I have to confess I did not like the look of these black blobs so I bought beautiful stainless steel Kanto stands which are about the same size. Something was lacking in my HD3s. Highs sounded a little shrill, and there was a thinner, slightly tinny sound. So I got the black Audioengine stands to compare. What a major difference. Immediately there was a fuller, richer, warmer, and smoother sound with better definition of each instrument in the recording and a bigger soundstage. The HD3 speakers with these stands are everything I could possibly want in audiophile quality desktop speakers. I'm even feeling friendlier toward the stands because they have been so good for me.     • Reliable isolation pads for the HD3
I'm actually using these pads backwards, as I had to place my speakers on a shelf due to space constraints. The height of the shelf was causing higher ranges to, ahem, go over my head. These pads have solved that problem admirably. With regards to isolation, they've also removed the slight rattle I was getting from the shelf when pushing the output with thump-heavy music. On the pads there is no noticeable rattle, so they work for their intended purpose, even when backwards :) I have not noticed any loss of fidelity with the odd orientation...the front port isn't covered by the pads when setup backwards, and the cavity underneath the pad doesn't appear to add any color to the sounds that I've noticed. ... show more

I love the way these stands just compliment and accentuate my Audio Engine bookshelf speakers. It angles them in the perfect direction to highlight the direction of the sound. It's really hard to tell since my Audio Engine A2+ speakers are so good to tell if they improve the sound. But I've done some comparison with and without the stands and the sounds seem a bit cleaner while on the stands. Obviously other factors are involved like what type of desk you're sitting on and how close to the walls but overall no complaints from me. As the description reads the silicone material around the base of the stand seems to give way a little so anything heavier than some solid bookshelf speakers might be stretching it. But the edges are solid enough where the speakers sit to ensure they hold my speakers in place. Love them. ... show more

I have small desktop speakers for my computer, they were always falling over, plus they were going to have to be elevated because of the angle, so I could get the complete stereo sound; but then I found the Audioengine DS1 Desktop Speaker Stands. These little puppies are great--just perfect for my speakers! They are sturdy and my speakers are tilted at just the right angle for the stereo effect. Plus, my little speakers no longer get knocked over. (The inside cutout of the speaker stands are about 2.5"--something I don't remember reading in the description--which would have helped me considerably.). The media could not be loaded. You absolutely need these with speakers on any desk or hard surface. They keeping things calm and from rattling plus make Speakers look awesome! High quality material that will last years and years.
