  • Absolute steal!
So I bought this microphone to have as a way to talk to my friends while playing games, and it is extremely solid. Keep in mind I make music, and have been making music for about 4 years now, so I have a pretty good idea of what gives good audio, and what doesn't. I saw this mic, and immediately I compared it to my SM7B with it's design, and I decided "why not?" This microphone is literally a 10/10, the best bang for your buck. I'll make a Pros and Cons list below Pros: - Price - Included shock mount (so it doesn't produce a lot of sound when you hit it) - Dynamic (gets rid of background noise, and it's actually better at this than the SM7B) - Has great build (everywhere except gain knob) - Attached pop filter that works extremely well - Good for podcasting Cons: - Plastic gain knob - Touch sensitive muting (could be a pro, but often times I didn't even realize I muted my mic) - (EXCLUSIVE TO SOMEONE WHO WANTS PRO RECORDINGS) Not very high quality mic, doesn't pick up a very full range Honestly I really do think this is the best possible starter microphone. Whether you're using it for podcasting or gaming, and to an extent for recording music, it will work extremely well. If you're considering this microphone or any other budget starter microphones, like any of the blue microphones, I think this one is a much much better bang for your buck. Comparing this to the SM7B (because that's the most popular microphone like this) I still think this takes the cake. The SM7B is known for having that Broadcaster sound to it because it pushes out the lower ends and the mids of your voice to give it that compressed sound. So how does this microphone stand against that? Still amazingly well. This microphone also pushes lows and mids, but it does it through a built in equalizer. It gives that exact sound you want if you're wanting a SM7B. Overall, great microphone, great price, just buy it. ... show more

  • Seems like an excellent microphone in terms of sound quality, but it's big and cumbersome
Let's start with the fact that Fifine microphones makes excellent high quality stuff, and they seem to be able to do it at reasonable prices, which is something very important to me. I either own or have owned two other Fifine microphones. One think I give away as a gift to someone who desperately needed a starter microphone. I have recommended Fifine microphones to numerous people. I helped one of my college professors choose the right Fifine to set herself up better for recording instructional videos and running classes over zoom. Perhaps I should explain here that I am physically disabled with very limited use of my hands. In fact I really can't use my computer, functionally, without a microphone. So I am what you might call "microphone dependent" I upgraded to this microphone because my previous cardioid mic, I'm forgetting the model number now was picking up too much background noise, even though it was cardioid. I think it was because it was a condenser microphone. This one which is dynamic in nature is much better at blocking out extraneous sounds. In fact it sometimes annoying because I forget how precisely positioned it should be for optimum performance. I guess I should also say that I am a working writer and that I use this microphone to dictate everything that I write, including this review. Overall this microphone is excellent in terms of function, in terms of design and appearance it could use some improvements. This microphone is rather large and cumbersome hanging from my boom arm. I wish it were at least a little smaller or more compact, in short a little more unobtrusive. Over video chat people keep commenting on the big microphone that I have and the fact that it sometimes blocks my face. They tease me that my set up now looks like I'm a professional radio announcer, doing a sports broadcaster something. But then they say that they can't see me well. When I'm writing and doing other work it also periodically blocks my view of certain parts of the screen, particularly along the right vertical edges, and I also have to frequently move it and the boom arm around to reach for stuff, like things I'm reading from. Certain friends of mine have also made a few obscene jokes about what it looks like. I don't know if it has to be this big, but I don't think so. One other thing, Fifine made it look quite sleek there are almost no visible markings on the my body itself. But this can be a bad thing when you're trying to adjust the gain knob. It could use a few clear markings both on the tube of the body and also the knob itself. There is hardly any indicator to show you where precisely the gain knob is pointed, and there is absolutely no clear scale to show you percentages of gain. In both gazes I had to add crude markings myself with the scratching tool, as a result the beautifully sleek body of my microphone now looks marred, and more than a bit ugly. This should not of been necessary. In conclusion I think that for most users this microphone probably leans in the direction of being overkill, and that most users can get away with a slightly less obtrusive microphone, if not a smaller one ... show more
