For like half the cost of the Blue Yeti, this is about the same quality sound (this is a good thing). I know people tend to dislike plastic mics because they think they feel cheap, but tbh I actually quite like the plastic they used, it feels nice. Visually, the mic is great, love how simple but effective the LEDs are, and the build quality is really nice. USB port works great, the biggest problem I had with the Blue Yeti was the usb port being very loose, this one has a very solid one. Only thing that brings my review down from 5 stars is that for some reason the direct mic monitoring through the microphone port on the mic itself is controlled by the output volume for system sound on the computer it's connected to, so you either have to deafen yourself with the extremely loud system sound through the mic (it feels like I have to turn it to 1% to be able to even hear myself think) or turn it way down (that wasn't sarcasm, when I'm playing games I usually literally have to turn the system volume to 1%, and then turn the game volume itself down) and be basically unable to hear your voice with the mic monitoring. Easy to setup, doesn’t take up too much space, and great sound quality. My friends were dumbfounded when they heard me speak through this thing, even saying, “I’m not used to hearing you in 4K.” Great mic, be sure to have it at a pretty close distance.

So I was looking for a microphone to replace the Blue Yeti. The Yeti has always sounded amazing, but it would pickup a cat fart from across the room. I wanted something that sounded as good but a little less sensitive to background noises. All I do is play online games so it didn't have to be audiophile quality. So I went on YT & started the process of video reviews. I thought I had settled on the K688 until I saw ObscureMic's review on the AM8. The AM8 sounded great to me on his video so I took the plunge. First impression on build. It is made of a hard plastic, but after I put it on the boom arm just how often would this be in any danger of being damaged? I like the "odd" shape of it. The pop filter is very well made and has a lot of material at the front where the pops come from (more than the K) The microphone & gain knobs are easily adjusted and the RGB control is easy to use with a touchless sensor. The mute button on top also has that same sensor. The only problem some may have is the side knobs will not tighten enough to "lock" this into one place. I think if that was an issue for some you could add some tiny little washers to shim it a bit. For me it's not an issue. It's tight enough to not move on it's own & added cable wraps helped as well. The sound. I think it sounds amazing. It's clean & clear. Like I said, I'm no audiophile but I don't need to be for this mic. Plug & play.....set it & forget it. I ditched my mechanical keyboard for a mechanical long ago and I cannot seem to hear any keyboard noise in the background. I think it does pickup my cats vocalizations a bit, but soooo much less than the Yeti did. The RBG wasn't needed but it's a nice touch. Overall I am super pleased with this microphone.     • A mic that will meet your recording needs

This mic is easy to assemble. The one thing that will take time to get custom is to make sure the mic is on and the volume is up when using the USB connection. This is a Dynamic Microphone so that means you will have to be in front of it when using it. A Fifine low-profile boom arm will work great for this microphone. The recording quality is great. I was looking at a different mic but when I found out that it is a condenser microphone, and found that they are sensitive to subtle noises. I learned from a reviewer that you will want a dynamic mic if you want to sound professional. I can't speak for the XLR portion of this mic at this time. One thing I found out is that when you plug this in for the first time you can use it for a sound card. You want to set the audio to come out of your speakers, not the microphone. In the settings of your devices you will find under the "allow this device to access..." you want it not to allow access when you test it. Also, I found that if you have other microphones or devices with microphones, depending on how you set which microphone is to be your default system mic.
