Totally eliminates all the hand water and making endless flow adjustments. Could the washers that secure the hose to the hose coupling be a bit greater grade so as to stop some of the water drops once in a while...yes but not a big deal at all. I got this for 2 reasons. First main reason- my dog loves it! it's great because you can adjhight or low spray and it's a great bit of entertainment for my German shepherd! 2) water the yard I like the multi spray types. I wish the steaks that hold it down were maybe a bit longer but that's only because my dog jumps at it and can tip it over LOL. The 4 star vs 5 star is only because they ship it in its very basic box, not a box to SHIP something and it arrived (UPS) looking like someone stepped on it. Put the sprinkler into operation, had to somewhat guess as the instructions were drenched from the box being delivered on the front, no protection vs the standard‘back door’ instruction with coverage. Once in a while a better design or idea comes along. This is one of them! This is the most versatile sprinkler that I have used. The multiple spray patterns (fan, flat, etc.), degree of rotation and elevation are all very useful. And the price really makes this a bargain. The durability remains an unknown at this point. I ordered this in March but today was the first time I used it. Instructions are clear and pictures/diagrams really help. I set it up and let it rip! I got a bit wet in adjusting it but not a big deal. Soil was too hard to push in the spikes, but it didn't tilt, fall, etc. I didn't leave it in place (ground too hard and expandable hose retracted) but I can remember placement.
