In this episode of “The Heat Made Me Buy It!” Jokes aside, I grabbed four (three different sizes for different windows) of these window covers for the west facing side of my house. The old blinds were okay but the sun is merciless this summer, and we needed better sun blocking. The first two photos are from a bedroom with blackout curtains, and the last photo is just the cover over a (steel) door window. The cover plus the curtains work perfectly! The one on the door is working much better than the old blinds. Aside from the added coverage from curtains, the trick is making sure to hang the cover inside the window frame. Because of the gap created by the brackets—which is needed to mount the cover and hold the springs for retraction—some light and heat comes through. The cover could be made to hang flush against the window with a thumbtack, but I don’t need that. It was pretty easy to hang up by myself. The cover feels like vinyl material, the brackets are a combo of metal and plastic, and the screws are a strong metal. First impressions: it feels durable and should last a long time. I appreciate that the instructions were easy to follow and includes information about how to adjust the rebound speed. Overall, I really like these and think they’re a great price. Sure, there are prettier ones on the market that are 2-3x the cost, but these are sturdy and functional. ... show more

I researched so many products for my windows. These shades were easy to install and offer good privacy. No one can see through. Light does filter in around edges but that does not bother me. They roll up slow and even after a slight tug and are easy to pull back down with a thoughtful clip to use so shades don't get dirty from hands pulling on them. Bought quite a few. Easy to install and to operate. However, one was fallen apart because of the heat from the sun melt the glue causing the PVC sheet separated from the metal stick. I hope the factory can improve the design to make sure it can hold the sheet tightly. If you don't have to pull it all the way down, you may not have such a problem. But if your window or door is very high, and you have to pull it all the way down, sooner or later, it might end up with the issue. In this case, I would recommend you to glue a small portion close to the metal stick and tape the end of the sheet on the metal stick to save a headache in future. Remember, after a certain amount of time, they won't allow you to return it anymore. You can glue it at that time but it will be much harder to fix it than glue an extra portion now. I bought this shade to use in my kitchen. It was installed in a window that previously had no window covering at all. I decided I wanted some privacy - particularly at night when the inside lights are on. So, I was looking for a simple shade that provided the necessary privacy and a simple, modern style. This shade fit the bill. It was very easy to install. The mounting brackets appear well-made and they hold the shade securely. The rolling mechanism works smoothly and retracts slowly, so it's very easy to raise and lower the shade. I wasn't concerned about total light blockage, though it does a pretty good job in that regard as well. The blinds I have in my bedroom window don't reach the bottom of the windowsill. The morning light would peek through it every morning. This wasn't a problem while I was working since I had to get up anyway. But now, I want to sleep in. I had this installed using the outside mount to cover the sides and bottom of my large window. It was easy to install and works well. I like that it blocks UV and will help keep my room warmer in the winter. I could feel air coming through the bottom of the window. These blinds were extremely easy to install. They roll up automatically with a tug at the bottom. I did an outside mount and measured to fit the entire window frame. It covers pretty good and provides very good blackout coverage. I do still get a small amount of light showing through, so I would definitely order with an inch or 2 over the frame of the window to provide total blackout. ... show more

I just installed this over a wider bedroom window that currently has roll up inside blinds but lets in too much side light.Very easy to install after reading the instructions multiple times.Works great and now nice and dark. I would suggest ordering these outside mount roller shades wider like 6 inches rather than their suggested 4 inch for a 100% coverage from sunlight.. ... show more
