This vegatable shredder/slicer works great if you set it up right. I love that you don't have to dump it periodically like you do many food processors, but if you just set it up on a flat surface, you have two problems: 1) There is very little room to put a pan under it, and 2) The shredded vegatables don't readily dump out of the shredding drum, causing it to back up and clog. An easy solution is to hang the output of the shredder out over the edge of the counter top far enough that the swing arm locking knob is over the edge, then put a pan or bucket on a chair to catch the shredded vegatables. Having the locking knob over the edge causes the shredding drum to angle down slightly so that the vegatables pour out easily without backing up. You might want to keep a hand on the Ankarsrum while doing this so that it doesn't vibrate off the counter. ... show more

The graters enable me to grate large quantities of vegetables, from relatively soft ones like summer squashes to hard root vegetables quickly and effortlessly. The only thing it hasn’t grated or sliced so well is large onions, whose layers get tangled between the granger and wall of the attachment.

Oh, my! I am so delighted with this attachment and the blender that I am now looking for a new home for my Cuisinart food processor. Don't need it anymore. This Ankarsrum attachment is easy to use, easy to clean and does a far better and quicker job than my Cuisinart did. Don't get me wrong, the Cuisinart food processor is a great product, but I have a small home business and I make trail mix that requires a lot of slicing and shredding. Good addition to Ankarsrum set. Slightly too expensive but good durable materials. The long insert tube can be hard to clean in the dishwasher but that the problem with most cooking robot accessories. Saves time preparing but more time cleaning.
