Had to finally replace our 30-year-old Brita pitcher (sob). Unfortunately, Brita has adopted designs that leave your filtered water open at the spout. What's the point of filtering your water for improved taste and then leaving it open to fridge odors? To get the sole model with a spout cover, you pay a nonsense amount. Amazon proves it can be done for less. Holds enough for the whole family at dinner with some refills. Couple design flaws, none of which are deal breakers for me. But in case they are for you: -- While the pitcher is able be put in the dishwasher, the handle is open at the bottom, so all the dirty dishwasher will go in there when you invert the pitcher for washing. You'll have to hand wash. --The top of the handle has a large, DEEP indentation (see picture. This is going to be a pain to keep clean. --NOT flip top. You have to remove the whole cover. Not difficult, but not as convenient as a flip top. And the top sticks a little to the upper insert. --The indicator is pointless for me. I was so excited about this feature. But I use the Brita Elite filters which have a longer life (6 months) than what the indicator is set for (60 days). It also will cease to work at some point and you cannot replace the batteries. You are instructed to remove it, leaving an empty indentation in the lid. No replacement sensor appears to be available. ... show more
