High Contact Areas Are Also Treated With Bioguard Coating To Prevent Bacteria Growth. The Machines Highly Efficient Compressor Makes The Cold Water Crisp And Ice Cold At Approximately 47° F Without The Need Of Adding Ice Cubes To Your Drink. The Hot Faucet Is Hot Enough To Cook One'S Tea Or Coffee Or Any Other Steaming Hot Beverage At Approximately 185° F. After 11 years of faithful service, our hot/cold water dispenser began leaking. We figured it was time to get another. Researching water coolers and considering prices, we decided on the Avalon. The cooler arrived and my husband quickly set it up, found that the door was difficult to open and close, and noted that it wasn't dispensing. Upon closer inspection, we discovered that the sides of the cooler were dented in and the top of the cooler was wonky. We also found a gouge at the top. The packaging was intact and undamaged, so it's a mystery. It was suggested that it was a returned unit that somehow got repackaged. Whatever....I contacted Avalon and their CS people quickly responded and told me to contact Amazon. I contacted Amazon and after some discussion, the unit was replaced. It arrived today in perfect condition. It looks nice, works great, heats/cools quickly, and is perfect for our needs. I would not hesitate to recommend this dispenser. Love this dispenser recently got this water cooler dispenser, and I'm absolutely thrilled with it! The design is sleek and modern, making it a stylish addition to any household. One of my favorite features is the incredibly easy way to load the water jug, where literally ANYONE can load it, and there is no lifting and no possible spillage, it's user friendly and straightforward, so anyone can load it without hassle. The dispenser offers three water options, which is a fantastic convenience for having hot, cool, or cold water at the touch of a button. It fits perfectly into my kitchen, and the sleek look enhances the overall aesthetic of the space, and is my favorite part, since there is no jug out in the open, and nothing protruding from the top of the machine which makes it appealing. The water tastes amazing, however, there is a "new machine" aftertaste to the water, which you can probably fix with a bit of research, I personally don't use it enough for this to be a problem. I absolutely love this water cooler! I used to have a top loading water cooler and it was a pain to replace the 5 gallon jug. This one is super easy to load/replace the 5 gallon jug since it's loaded from the bottom! Water get cold really fast upon loading the jug. It has a sensor and a light illuminates when it's time to replace the water jug. It has 3 water temperatures to select from: Hot, Cool and Cold. This is a good water dispenser - not as good as my GE but a heck of a lot better then my Primo. I'll start with the packing: This unit comes in a box that needs to be secured properly - when they were getting it out of the truck the unit hit the ground. It comes in a small well insulated box about 4" high, with a long rectangle box over it. The problem is it is not attached so the top box comes off. Everything for the unit is packaged well. The instructions are easy to follow and it has books explaining everything and how to get help if needed. It also comes with a magnet on the side so help is at your finger tips. With out a full water bottle the unit is light. The door opens to the left and has no kind of indent or handle, making it a little difficult to open when replacing the bottle. With out a bottle the unit is a little unsteady, but with a bottle there is no problem. I have Crystal Springs 5 gallon bottles and they fit perfect. You have to remove the entire white cap, then put the long metal piece with a cap on the bottle and make sure it snaps into place, which is easy. The bottle is a little hard to get back in the unit because the unit moves. (This is my first bottom load, so I guess practice makes perfect), there is a slight ramp to push it up. When the bottle is empty a red light flashes letting you no and goes off after you change out the bottles. Now there is a little water left in the bottles when it says empty. The drip pan needs some work. It fits in snug but when you need to dump it, it is a pain to get out and spills the water in the floor. When the unit turns on it is not loud - A light hum. It has a green button that stays on letting you know the unit is working. When the cold water needs cooling a green button comes on and goes off when cold. Same with the hot water. The buttons are easy to push down, a nice size and the hot water one has a safety on it. There is a hot water, cool and cold button. The hot water is really hot. The cool is room temperature. Now the cold is cold enough for me but for some asking if it is ice cold- it is NOT. My jug of water in my refrigerator is way colder. The filling station: From the bottom of the water spout to the top of the drip pan is 9". There is no indent in the back so if you fill a coffee pot you have to tilt it a little or the water spills all over. The ledge to set the glass or coffee pot is 3 1/2" from back to front under the cool water and under the hot and cold is is 3 1/4" wide. The unit plugs into a normal wall plug and the cord is 6' long. So far I like this unit and would recommend it. ... show more
