Initially when I set this item up I followed the instructions exactly and the product did not end up working. After a week of submitting customer service complaints, I finally got a phone conversation where I found out the product only works with a FAD32 type USB. This was nowhere in the instructions and as this was a mothers day gift was a bit awkward. Onto the product itself, the pictures taken vertically on phones dont scale on screen and are shown small, however, horizontal pictures work excellent. The one I purchased developed an intermittency in its power supply and cycles power after only getting through two or three pictures in the slide show I set up (about 15 seconds). I assume mine is just broken but I won't be replacing it because: The screen is ionized and so the pictures are only worth looking at from straight on. The controls are not responsive. The screen can't be re-oriented from displaying pictures horizontally, so if you have any vertically-oriented pictures (like the posters I bought it to display) you have to rotate them in a picture editor or else they'll take up only a fraction of the screen. ... show more

I purchased three of these devices for Christmas gifts (including one for me). My five star rating is based on the fact that I am fully aware that this is not a top of line digital frame because I did my research; so my expectations were already in perspective. When reading the reviews, I was a bit concerned about purchasing it, because they were fairly mixed. However based on this being a lower-end model, this device provides you a good bang for your buck. The initial setup was easy. The quality of the photo display is quite good for a lower end model. I loaded the photos on an SD Card (16 GB) from my computer (only used a fraction of the space with 200+ photos). Eventually I'll purchase a nano jump drive and load the photos there instead, just because that's my preference for storage. The device also came with a Mini USB Cord to allow direct connect to your computer for Picture downloads. It also includes 512 MB on-board storage (actually it's 3 GB), but I doubt seriously if I will use it. The one challenge I encountered was the presentation of photos in the Portrait display mode being displayed incorrectly. The device allows for you to rotate it via the remote control for the purpose of the current display. However, it will not be saved and the next time the photo is cycled through it will return to the original display mode. To resolve this issue, I download a free jpeg converted (jpeg lossless converter) to ensure the photos were in the correct display mode on the storage device (i.e., Jump Drive, Storage Device). This resolved this issue and allowed the photos to remain in the correct display format. While it does not have a motion sensor on the device, it is equipped with a timer to power the device on and off based on time & day (remember, this is a lower end model). This was not only a nice gift for myself, but those that I gave it to, also loved it. (Hint: Load it up with some great photo memories before giving it as a gift.) It's packed with several features that I was not expecting, but are great little add-ons...Alarm Clock, Calendar, Clock. For a lower end digital frame, it accomplishes everything it advertises and more. If your expectations are properly set for what you are purchasing, you will not be disappointed by this device. ... show more

Hello. I love the Aluratek 7" digital photo frame. My mom had went to Las Vegas last month and showing her sisters and friends the photos from her Iphone was uncomfortable scrolling threw and hard to see on a small screen. Now she can show and view her vacation pics on the comfortable view of a 7" screen and doesn't have to use her fingers to change photos. We set the frame to 5 seconds per photo which gives enough time to view the happenings in each photo. The photo change time can be set to longer if needed. We simply put her photos on a memory stick and popped the stick into the USB on the side of the digital frame and instantly the photos appeared on the screen. Also like the transition effects the photos make from photo to photo. Love this frame!!! And was a very eco friendly price also. ... show more

Complete crap! Purchased May 25th, stopped working July 10th. Just get a white screen, all attempts to reset unsuccessful. Seller will not accept return/exchange. DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM! Update: Also DANGEROUS!!! Came to my office this morning and I feel fortunate that the building wasn't on fire. The device shorted out the thumb drive, causing it to melt. Well, the one time I don't take the time to read the reviews I get stung. Be sure to read down the entire listing before buying this item. They say it is high resolution. It is not. They say it can do video, it does not. They say it is 7 inch viewing, it is not. They say it come with a remote, it did not. They say it comes with a USB 2.0 cable, it did not. Aluratek is using a generic product description for all of their products and it isn't exactly what is being offered. I blame myself for not reading enough, but on the other hand both Aluratek and Amazon carry some of the blame. Aluratek for not describing their products accurately enough and Amazon for letting them get away with it. I wont buy from Aluratek again. I will send my money elsewhere as I have no regard for companies that can't be honest. I feel Amazon needs to do a better job of protecting their buyers from dis-honest vendors like Aluratek. ... show more

Works fine, but I'm very disappointed in the design. You can not use a long USB flash drive without it showing... okay, I can get around that by buying a short USB drive or using an SD card, but the fracked power plug also sticks out and can be seen from the front... that's unacceptable.
