  • Great value for the price! 5/5
Upon getting the device, the box felt well constructed, had a magnetized display flap, and had a nice weight to it. It was easy to open, and the device slid out without issue. The charger cable was wrapped in a foam sleeve to protect the frame from any scratching. I removed the plastic bag from the picture frame, and removed the protective sheet over the screen. The power button is easily found at the top of the device, and powered on without any problems. Connectivity is great and responsive. There is minimal - if any - lag while changing images. You can cycle through a few screens manually with the center button located at the middle and bottom of the frame. The display is large and easily visible from a distance. The colors are vivid and the display is nice and bright. (My phone does not do the colors justice!) Lol The app allows you to draw your own images, you can import images, as well as select from a massive variety of created images. Overall, I'm very impressed with the quality of this device! Feels well-built, the display is great, and even with the factory charge - battery life is great as well! You still have the option to simply plug it in to a power supply as well. The provided cable will give you about 5 feet of reach, so you might need to acquire more length for a shelf display - which isn't an issue, considering USB-C cables are readily available pretty much everywhere. ... show more

  • INCREDIBLE VALUE!!!
This device is AMAZING and the value for money is super-high. If you've gone around the web looking for a similar piece of tech, you'll find these only in DIY format. The parts alone are $150 PLUS! Kickstarters and small time makers have sold similar devices for $250! It's really a shame that at the time I write this, the most helpful voted review is a 1 star review! That guy just doesn't get it. There's no chance this product deserves such a low rating. I admire and appreciate Divoom for releasing this niche product and wish them much success. The build quality is fantastic, the moment you remove this from the packing you will appreciate the premium quality. They did not cut corners. The app itself does take some getting used to, and it could use improvement. Yes.. I agree. BUT.. it does a lot of things VERY WELL. I must mention that the sheer amount of pixel art and animations available through the app is ASTOUNDING. This is likely the largest collection of 16x16 pixel art/animations you can find anywhere... and more user content is added every day. There are thousands of animations/pics available, and it has a search function. You can follow/subscribe to your favorite creators similar to a youtube channel. Nifty! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you download the Divoom app RIGHT NOW and check them out for yourself. You can see them all and play with them without having a device. Cool! DO IT! There is amazing content! (if you're into pixel art) There are tons of features in the app.. the biggest shortcoming to me is the lack of "playlists". (Unless I missed something!) You can view any art/animations you want at the tap of finger on your phone, it instantly plays on the Pixoo. Neat. But.. I want the ability to create playlists that will loop. Let's say I have 15 Super Mario themed animations I want running in a loop. I want to be able to make a playlist to play those in a loop. The software does allow me to upload 12 animations easily into the Pixoo's memory. You can turn it on, press a few buttons, and it will play them without involving your phone whatsoever. That's great. But that's quite limited. I want to be able to make that unlimited, even if it uses the app and the phone needs to be nearby. Some complain about the battery life of 6 hours. To me the fact that it has a battery at all is just a bonus! This does have a USB port. You can leave it plugged in 24/7 if you want. WiFi AND bluetooth would be great. This device currently supports bluetooth. This was clearly designed with portability in mind, but not all of us want it for that. Many of us won't move this at all. What I REALLY want.. is this to integrate with IFTTT or in some other manner allow me to integrate into my smart home. Think google/alexa voice control as an example.. I want to have several Pixoos and create cool art scenes by voice command. "Alexa, turn on Super Mario art". I want to be able to stream random animations. I want to have total control over what is playing, and when. This might all actually be possible even with this device as-is.. but not for the average user. Advanced nerding-out here: I did find some python source code on github that will connect to a Divoom device, open bluetooth communcation, and transmit images/animations for viewing.. all without the app. With a bit of work, this could be the answer. My raspberry pi 3b has bluetooth support. I can probably get all of this work with my raspberry pi and some custom code, and integrate that into my smart home. I wish Divoom would make this possible out of the box. That would be incredible. No doubt, tech people will open this device up and hack the hardware to do whatever they want.. even a WiFi connection. This is cheaper than the do-it-yourself cost to build one from scratch, so why not?? I've given this 5 stars despite the shortcomings, because once again... the value is tremendous! ... show more

  • Perfect for all different skills/interests
This is my most favorite purchase from Amazon. The hardware works well out of the box and is simple to get up and running. You can do limited operations with the button on the front, but you need a phone and the app to really unlock the features. It connects via Bluetooth, not WiFi. You can select different "channels" to display and the device will stay on that channel even if you walk out of Bluetooth range. The clock channel can show just a clock (in various formats) or cycle between a few options (weather, date, etc.). There is a deep and ever-growing userbase that uploads custom art and animations, predominantly in 16x16 format since that is what can be displayed by most Divoom devices. So many interests are represented. If there's something missing from pop culture, chances are someone will upload it soon and many of the top artists seem receptive to requests or ideas. The art is moderated into different channels and there is a search option that will parse the titles used by the artists during the upload, and any hashtags they may have added. There is a vast collection already uploaded and you can click to display a given item onto the device. Alternatively, you can select multiple custom pieces and download them to your device so they will loop even when your phone leaves Bluetooth range. You can not make new clock designs, but you can make animations that will respond to sound (I believe limited to animation speed at the moment). It is also possible to import into the app so if you have a different pixel art software, you can do everything there and then still get it onto your device. (I have been doing this lately as the in-app tools are perfectly functional but not as feature-rich as some other art apps). The hardware itself is already 5-star. The "pixels" have an awesome look to them and they can display a huge range of colors. Although the app is moderately overwhelming at first, after messing around for 10 minutes or so you will have a handle for how it all works. The Divoom team is wonderful. They moderate extremely well, I have never seen questionable content and at least in its current state of moderation, I would have no concerns with children viewing the library of user-uploaded content. It appears that all new designs are approved by a moderator team before other users can see them. The Divoom team also posts seasonal contests and are extremely supportive of new users. Likewise, I have found other artists to be positive and helpful in the comments on animations and through direct messages. The Divoom team periodically picks top animations and puts them in a special "recommended" tab, where you can really find some mind-blowing designs. Some of the animators that contribute are absolutely amazing artists. Lastly, the Divoom team seems to be constantly updating and adding features. The lineup of devices seems to be steadily growing as well. I highly recommend this device if you are at all interested in a pixel display! ... show more
