  • Perfect!
I love it. I had trouble connecting the gas line at first, but I wasn’t doing it right. The shiny piece with holes should go underneath the hole! I’m excited to use this. The spirit burner is the same as all the others.

  • VERY BAD QUALITY
HOSE WON,T GO THROUGHT BOTTOM OPENING. INTERFERANCE FIT.INNER PAN IS RIVETED TO HIGH UP, HOSE HITS TOP OF. BOTTOM OPENING. ONLY WAY THIS WILL WORK IS TO OPEN THE BOTTOM OPENING AT THE TOP, MAKE IT LARGER, OR REMOVE THE RIV ITS AND SLIDE THE INNER SECTION DOWN - RERIVET, VERY VERY POOR QUALITY.

  • Great little camping stove. Instructions would have been nice.
This is a really nice stove, perfect for camping and backpacking. It's light, yet sturdy. It comes with everything you need right out of the box, including the alcohol fuel. There is also a clamp for lifting pots and pans that do not have handles. The whole thing fits into the included sac. I tested it using Gas made for portable stoves. In order to use that, you have to setup the included attachment. Without instructions, it took me a minute to figure out that you have to unscrew the burner from the hose, run the hose into the opening in the bottom of the unit, puke the threaded end through the center hole and then screw the burner unit to the threads. No instructions? Seriously? After that, it fired right up and produced a strong heat that will definitely heat up a pan or boil water in a reasonable amount of time. The platform is a decent size for a medium sized pot or pan. Other than the lack of instructions, I have no real issues with this stove. Perfect for camping and light enough (though a bit bulky) for backpacking. The price is in line with, and better than, similar camping stoves. I like the versatility of being able to use alcohol, gas, wood or charcoal. ... show more

  • I like the heat retention and resistance to wind. But the alcohol burner leaks.
The media could not be loaded. I only tested this with the alcohol burner and bas burner. I did not burn any wood of coal. PROS: - The stove (pot) is well made and does a good job blocking the wind. It also holds-in much of the heat otherwise lost to the air - The grab-handle really comes in handy as the stove does retain the heat for quite a while - The gas burner produces a strong, well-distributed, swirled, flame. But I still prefer to use some type of plate beneath the pan/pot to distribute the heat, unless I'm just boiling water. - The alcohol burner also had a good flame distribution, and as with this type of burner, is virtually silent - The little cutout near the top of the stove is big enough to easily get the adjustable top of the alcohol burner in/out without removing the pot. CONS: - Its not big, but probably too big for backpacking. As I "car camp" with a small suv, it's compact enough for my purposes. - My biggest single gripe is the alcohol burner leaks at the seam where its top and bottom portions are joined, see photo. It's not just one spot, it leaks all the way around the seam. The screw-on lid has a nice gasket, which doesn't leak, but this doesn't really matter since the seam leaks. So it is necessary to pour any unused fuel back into it's storage bottle. - The gas burner is loud (see video), even compared to my other small camping gas burners. - The gas burner also doesn't "turn down" very well, so it's lowest setting still puts out quite a bit; enough to still produce some small steady bubbles (boiling water), it also "pops" quite a bit at this setting. To be fair, my other gas stoves are only slightly better at maintaining a lower flame. - The gas burner isn't hard to install, but really should come with some basic instructions. When installed, the tubing/hose just barely exits the opening in the side of the stove. ... show more

  • A fabulous little high-quality, aluminum alloy, multi-fuel, multipurpose stove …
I’m a major fan of the Alocs camping line and make no apologies for it. Now, I could go for a titanium line, but I’m not planning on climbing Mount Everest anytime soon. I don’t need indestructible, but rather solid, functional, and high quality. Mind you, there’s nothing wrong with vintage, but some of the stuff I have is downright collectible. I sold a lot of it last summer and was very happy to retire some piece. For example, I have a Paul Revere camping coffee pot. Nice, but it’s heavy, cumbersome and nowhere near as portable as the Alocs. That coffee pot is as heavy as this camping stove. Very nice, but not functional enough for me. I’m slowly replacing all that vintage camping with Alocs. I now have a few things on the old wish list. It can be rather pricey, but you get what you pay for. I won’t be replacing any of this camping gear as it’s top notch and worth the investment. Back to the beauty of this particular camping stove. The stove is made of an aluminum alloy, which makes it very strong, yet lightweight. Think aircraft here … strong, but lightweight. What’s interesting is that this is a multi-purpose stove or should I say multi-fuel. I can use gas, alcohol, wood, or coal. Talk about versatility! I’m not going to use the stove immediately, but I was easily able to set up the stove in minutes. My other Alocs cookstove / multi-cooker works wonderfully. As with my other stove, the flame is adjustable and I was able to get a really decent flame by adjusting the + / - on the gas control valve. It’s easy to hear the gas going when it’s turned. The conductivity of the Alocs cookware is excellent (I speak from prior experience here). Alocs might not be titanium, but it certainly ranks high on my list of quality cookware and gear. I had no idea this has been out there since 1979. Undoubtedly, some of this cookware has made it up many a mountainside or into the wild with the off grid set.
