I purchased 2 of these clock to help my elderly mom stay oriented to date, time of day and year. I have one near her bedside and one in the den where she spends most of her time during the day. She loves the one in the den. However, the one in her bedroom, she tends to throw something over it to obstruct the screen, because even with it on dim at night, it's still to bright for her. She definitely needs it at night because when she wake up, she disoriented. I am not elderly, but I love love love this clock! I am a nurse and would see this clock in so many homes of my patients especially with dementia because it mentions the day of the week, the time and the date. I bought the smaller size, but think I probably would like the bigger size even more. The reason I bought it was because once cable switched over to fiber optic for the Internet, we lost the box that had a little digital time on it. Every single person in my family that has been by and seen the clock sitting out has asked about it and bought one for themselves. I just adore this clock. I was not sure if it would work for me till I found one can change the color. The red color is best for me. The "it's time for your med's" is very cool. When your retired, sometimes you just don't know what day it is. Will have to get one or two more for other rooms.

At first I loved this clock. Easy to set up, nice display and really helped my parent with dementia. Then about 4 months later it went black and would not function at all. I messaged the seller and they are sending me a replacement so while it was disappointing it stopped working they are standing behind their product. ... show more

I got this for my son who is adhd and it was recommended he have a large clock in his room. I have it hanging on the wall and it's nice but when the alarm goes off, there's not an easy way to reach the buttons to turn it off. The double edge sword of that is that the alarm turns off on its own after maybe only 1 min. And never goes back off. So I can't truly use it for the purpose of helping him be independent as he's slept through the alarm at times. But it does help know the day, date, and time so it does that at least. I bought this to help orient the day for someone with dementia. it is always there boldface . with the LED lit up makes it stand out especially in the nighttime .as a soft night light. We placed it near the tv. No longer has to ask the time and date and is greatly appreciated. It takes stress off trying to be independent. I enjoy the information myself...We bought one for the bathroom as a light guide and early morning orientation. thank you. I didn't realize this was available until the need came up. Purchased this Day/Date Clock for a Senior parent who started to lose track of the day & date... thanks to the Covid Lockdown. Very helpful item that looks GREAT. But, anyone would be happy to have this at home, dorm room, office, etc! I selected the black frame, & opted to set up the display w/ the background dark- w/ white letters & numbers for a very easy to see display. Not using the alarm feature, as prefer not to have my Mom moving the frame around to set alarms or to silence them. IMO, best to use just as a Clock & Day-Date Calendar as all controls are on the back & a bit small to adjust for most Senior users. No problems with the unit, has been working fine for 8 months now. Warning: There is no mention of the word DEMENTIA on the outside of the box, however the instruction sheet I received (enclosed inside the box) calls it a Dementia clock. Glad I opened the box before giving it as a gift to my Mom. While it's useful to have Memory/Dementia/Alzheimers in the Amazon "search" for a useful clock, I don't think it needs to be on the product's instruction sheet or packaging. Again, was not on the box, just the instruction sheet. Anyone purchasing it for a person suffering dementia or memory loss should realize that that recipient would likely find the instructions tricky due to their impairment, so be sure to set it up ahead of time or when you give it to them- so they could choose the background display they like best of the choices it offers. Many times though... choices give them anxiety- so perhaps best to experiment w/ the 3 options yourself first- & pick which one you believe they will be able to see the easiest. Very happy with the purchase, & my Mom tells me it is one of her favorite gifts EVER received! ... show more
