I bought this clock hoping it would be loud enough to wake up my boyfriend. It has done the job pretty well. It is loud but i don't know how much louder a person would want to wake up to. It's annoying to me but it gets the job done. It has nice big numbers and it looks nice on his night stand. It lights up nice and bright and when it goes off you know it, unless your half dead to the world. I don't like it but he does and since he is the main worker in the house I tolerate it. I'm a deep sleeper so I need a loud alarm to wake me. This one is awesome! The colors are neat too, but that's just a perk. The only thing that could be improved, is if the display dimmer could go just a little darker. The light is still a bit bright at the minimum setting. But that's not a deal breaker because I just turn it away from my face at night. It would work great as a night light for kids. Backup battery to hold time setting in power outage worked well too. 4.5 stars really. ... show more

Super loud is an accurate description. My 5yo has this in her room to help know what time she is allowed to leave her room in the morning because the numbers are big and clear to read. I wish you adjust the brightness a little more dimly because it is quite bright with the different colors. The buttons on top or easy to use. The alarm clock is easy to set too (wish it was harder for a kid because she will randomly click it and then I have the lovely scare through my day). I got a defective clock. It was plugged in with batteries then all of a sudden it was sparking and smoking while I was trying to set it up. I immediately unplugged it and removed the batteries. It still continued to smoke until put underwater. Once it stopped we were too scared to leave it in the house so we threw it in a snow bank outside. It was a scary experience. Based on this I would NOT recommend this clock to anyone. It also doesn't come with the power cord needed which caused frustration because I had to find one that fit.
