Description

3M Marine Adhesive Sealant 5200 is a tough, flexible polyurethane for permanent bonding and sealing your RV, boat or other watercraft. It is ideal for use on wood, gelcoat, fiberglass, metal and more. It is recommended for interiors, below the waterline and any other places that are shielded from sunlight. It applies right from the container – no mixing is required. It becomes tack-free in 48 hours, and cures to form a firm, flexible, waterproof seal on joints and boat hardware. Far more than a marine caulk, tough, flexible Marine Adhesive 5200 dissipates stress caused by vibration and shock, and won’t crack under dynamic force. It resists saltwater, wind, weather and temperature extremes for long periods of worry-free enjoyment on the water. In fact, for more than 50 years, 3M Marine Adhesive Sealant 5200 has been used and trusted as a marine sealant by professionals in some of the most demanding conditions on earth.

  • Expensive but did the job on my pool
Color: White Size: 10 fl oz Pattern Name: Adhesive Sealant
I used this to seal under the stone around the periphery of my pool, and it worked great for that purpose. I liked that it was also sealed on the non tip end to prevent premature drying of the tube.

  • Excellent bond of wood to fiberglass
Color: White Size: 10 fl oz Pattern Name: Adhesive Sealant
I'm using this to put a ceiling in a fiberglass top RV, and I needed a way to bond the wood supports to the ceiling and side of the van. I used this adhesive in combination with deck screws to hold the ceiling supports up to the roof, and the results were so good I used the adhesive by itself to put my supports on the side of the van. After a day, those were on pretty solid, but I'm letting them cure a full 7 days before building the van out further. I chose this adhesive because it has greater flexibility than epoxy which is an important consideration when you're banging down dirt roads in an RV. And while the contact patch I'm securing to the fiberglass is not all that great and the weight it will carry is minimal, I figure all other things being equal it was better to go with the more flexible option. I only used a small amount on the ceiling, and my side walls didn't go up for another week, so I put the tub in a plastic bag in order to keep the adhesive from setting. That worked like a champ, and I was able to save about 20 bucks by not having to toss the majority of the adhesive away. ... show more

  • When they say permanent, they mean permanent!
Color: Black Size: 10 fl oz Pattern Name: Adhesive Sealant
This adhesive is crazy. I wouldn't use it on anything you do not want to be PERMANENT. We replaced our propane fridge in the RV with a Residential fridge. I used this adhesive to glue metal L brackets to the top, and small Wood spacers on the bottom. It took forever to cure (7 days..) but it is NOT coming off. In retrospect, I think I should have bought the "fast cure" version. ... show more

  • Good sealant.
Color: White Size: 10 fl oz Pattern Name: Adhesive Sealant
I bought this to seal my swim deck ladder to the swim deck after making repairs. I have also used it when installing the bow roller. Works good, seals and bonds well. As stated by others, the tube is off a bit on size. The first time you use it, you may not notice. But if you are like me and save your tubes for future use, the next time, the tube will begin to torque to the side when squeezing out. I save my tubes by cleaning the tips and wrapping them in plastic wrap really good. Yes, it works, but it sometimes only slows the curing of the product. In this sealants case, it worked OK, but I did have to remove a few inches of sealant to get to the softer stuff. This sealant wants to cure, so keep that in mind. I have reused silicon years later wrapping them, but this sealant isn't going to last long for additional uses. I recommend this sealant and only this sealant for keeping the water out of your boat. Dont go the cheap way on this stuff. Do your research. ... show more

  • The best you can buy.
Color: Black Size: 10 fl oz Pattern Name: Adhesive Sealant
I use this stuff to apply a rubber base onto wooden instruments. Bonding to rubber is not very easy, but this stuff is great. It is extremely tacky and firm right out of the tube. I keep mine in the fridge to preserve the unused contents, but can also go in the freezer, and is immediately usable even icy cold. CONS: it takes several days to cure hard (for shaping and sanding) but will skin in 1-2 days. Seriously tacky! There is a fast cure variety but it’s only available in white. I need the black stuff. JB wood also has a similar white product. This is seriously on another level. ... show more

  • And I might be wrong but it seems the silicone pads on the goggles and rubber wetsuit material would bond (that is to say "melt"
Color: Black Size: 3 fl oz Pattern Name: Adhesive Sealant
Unfortunately, I had to rate this with something.. and there are no negative numbers. I was dumfounded that this product demonstrated 100% failure to do anything it is advertised to do..even for the simplest of use. It failed as an adhesive... and where it would NOT bond it failed to seal. I swim 2.5 - 3 miles everyday and am in the water for anywhere from 80 to 110 minutes non-stop. I customize the swimming goggles I use because I can't find goggles that won't put ring marks on my boney eye sockets and over that kind of time they begin to really hurt. I glue custom cut pieces of an old wet suit to the soft material around the goggle lenses. I read many reviews of this product and bought it because I thought I had found a winner and I'd finally found something that would last... but that was not the case. Within one week the bond failed completely. Now maybe the glue isn't made to withstand chlorine, I don't know.. it wasn't indicated and if it is a marine sealant who's to say someone wouldn't be using it around a pool? It only makes sense it could be. And I might be wrong but it seems the silicone pads on the goggles and rubber wetsuit material would bond (that is to say "melt" together) but what I got was a nice clean surface on both the pieces when they came apart. I put the glue on both surfaces and waited over an hour for it to get sticky (otherwise it was like water), so maybe it doesn't bond to itself. Seems every glue I've ever used recommends doing this. I weighted the bond down overnight and because of the "dry" time, did not get them wet for over a week. I can't imagine using this useless stuff on a boat, or any type of motor, or condition where vibration would be constant. And the kind of set up time required the boat would likely sink if I'm trying to seal water out. I'm glad other people got some satisfaction from it, I sure didn't for that piddly little use...and I'd be willing to bet down the road they will all be doing it again. It took well over a week for the glue to become non-sticky. All in all.. I would not recommend anyone buying this stuff for anything unless you just like the smell of it. Sorry 3m but... best go back to the drawing board.. or put some information together about how, where, what.. maybe "your" definition of marine...directions for application and something on the literature other than the fear based stuff about getting it in the eyes or swallowing it. I normally would not say anything and just throw the stuff away but it was such utter failure...maybe I can save someone the trouble and time I went through. ... show more
