My 12' x 13' bedroom is on the second level of an old house with poor heating, and this has been a life-saver this winter. It's super quiet, only a very occasional click is what I hear when it's on. It has a slightly bright orange light on the front of it when it's on. For light-sensitive sleepers that may be annoying, but a bit of electrical tape over the light is a quick fix. Quickly assembled wheels make it easy to move around the room. I'd say the power cord is a little on the short side, but it's perfect for this room size or a little larger. I haven't noticed a significant increase in our energy bill since using it, but I only run it for the 7 to 9 hours I'm sleeping. I haven't even had to set the temp gauge any higher than medium-low because it works so well. I can't recommend this enough! ... show more

We had our single digit freeze here in Texas and I ordered 2 of these a few mos ago to be prepared so they got put to use this week! They did well. 3 units downstairs and 1 upstairs to help our hvac not struggle too badly. I do have an old Kenwood brand I bought like 16 years ago and it is way more powerful than these new ones. So there is that comparison. Guess they don't make em like they used too, eh? I cant answer fully to the energy efficiency until the dreaded power bill comes in. ... show more

This handy dandy little heater heated up my whole 1,400-square-foot two-story house for two full winters, since I plugged it into my solar house and turned off the gas centralized heater. In year three, it didn't seem to work all that well so I put it away immediately. But I'm just plugging it in again to see if I just didn't give it enough time to work last year, because it does take hours to get the house hot, since it's a silent oil thing with no fan. If it doesn't work, I'll come back here and drop it one star. But it does smell like heat and it does feel like it's working again. Hurray! (I hope.) ... show more

    • Quiet heat source, easy controls, simple.
I chose this because it looks identical to another one I have, other than the brand name. Had the other one a year now with no problems but that brand no longer sells a simple model like this. The controls are simple and easy to use, no complicated digital buttons or displays to complicate things. I like too that it is portable, easy to move around as needs change or to find the best spot in the room for effective heating. Easy to store out of the way when not in use during the summer. I had been using ceramic disk heaters which have a fan. they were not that loud or disturbing, but i now like to watch video on my tablet with volume pretty low. i would have to turn volume up when those were on, then down when they went off. Using the master heat pump just the air vents make a lot of noise and i don't really need to heat the entire house when i usually only occupy a couple of rooms. So I decided to try the radiator type device. It is great since it makes zero noise. so far on low and 40-50% thermostat my master bedroom has remained comfortable, might have to turn up some as winter sets in but i've enjoyed the dead silence or still being able to hear my video without the volume blasting at full or having to constantly adjust it. ... show more

Worked effortlessly, right out of the box. No smell or odors. No clicking noises. No problems with it starting, or randomly turning off. Haven't received the heating bill yet, so I cannot comment on the electric costs. UPDATE: 2 months later - releasing a TERRIBLE CHEMICAL ODOR. I had been using it lightly since November but, noticed the past few weeks that I'd smell this funk in the air. Like, perhaps an animal died. Finally realized it was this heater. I had already done the initial "pure" in November, so I am now very concerned. Return window just closed less than one week ago and I am VERY upset. ... show more
