  • Best cost effective foam panels.
Size: 12 Pack Color: Black(Pyramid)
My Rating: 4.7 / 5 Purchased 12 X 12 X 2 Pyramid Panel 12 pack ($20) OVERVIEW: The foam panels work great for acoustics in a room. They also reduce noise to some degree, but are not capable of soundproofing a room (not the purpose). This is an overall great buy. Highly recommend the 2 inch thickness over the 1 inch thickness. PRICE: The price to quality ratio is unbeatable compared to other amazon products. The foam is good quality, but they are not very dense because these are low tier sound panels (mid tier = $60 - 75). From what I’ve tested these are the best you can find for a 12 pack under $50. UNPACKING: The foam panels come vacuumed sealed. At first I thought them might have been defected because they were as thin a paper. Leaving them out didn’t seem to work either. I ended up running a bath and letting them soak for 30-60mins. After ringing them out they looked perfect, albeit a few spots which I have to manually pull apart. After I put them in the dryer with dryer sheets on gentle dry for 45mins. They don’t come with adhesive so I used 3M double sided foam tape (great for removing off foam and walls if you rent). CONCLUSION: I would highly recommend these foam panels to anyone looking for a budget friendly option to create better acoustics, dampen sound, or for slightly reducing outside sound. ... show more

  • Great sound proofing
Size: 12 Pack Self-adhesive Color: Gray(1" X 12" X 12")
Used it to keep out water pump quiet. Does a good job and the self sticking backing was fantastic sticks very well. Just the right size for my cover box over the pump. I did check with the well guy to make sure it wouldn’t over hear the pump. Well guy says it’s ok

  • Upon taking it out of the packaging it is deceiving, follow the instructions
Size: 12 Pack Color: Black(Beveled 9 Block)
Upon taking it out of the packaging it is deceiving, follow the instructions, they were 1/16 of an inch super thin/compacted, looked like poor quality. So for the producer it is completely unnecessary too vacuum seal these, you have to cut them at full density for shape. I order the 48sqft it took me 2hrs of soaking, kneading, & ringing out then put them in dryer on the fluff cycle for 2hrs before these were full size. Keep them at full size n repackage them neatly and ship in a larger box. They are 2” as described once full-size great quality! Long unnecessary process but happy end result. Recommend buy the adhesive tabs to secure ... show more

  • >20dB reduced!
Size: 12 Pack Self-adhesive Color: Black(1" X 12" X 12")
Awesome product works better than i thought it might. I built a shop vac cabinet for my CNC routers, to try to quiet down the sound of the shop vac; nothing is more annoying than the sound of a vacuum cleaner running the whole time your routers are running lol. Figuring the sound would really echo inside of the cabinet and turn it into a speaker so i bought these in anticipation of that. Sure enough once i had it done i was getting >85 dB, but once I lined the inside of the cabinet with the panels the sound dropped to >60 which is hardly noticeable over the rest of the tools. I do wish the adhesive was a bit stronger, but once you have pressed it firmly into place (maybe roll it out) i think it will be fine. I'll be buying more for sure ... show more

  • Poor adhesion
Size: 12 Pack Self-adhesive Color: Black(1" X 12" X 12")
All the foam panels came loose from the acrylic sound panels I stuck them to. Terrible quality foam panels. Regarding my incomplete return status: I had cut some of these foam panels before I found them to not have good adhesiveness. So these acoustic foam panels were not in good shape and damaged or cut in half when I tried to remove them from the surfaces to which they were applied so I threw them out. The reason I returned them was because of the weak adhesiveness. If you still feel justified in charging me for a product that did not work as expected, that’s your decision. ... show more

  • Update: Best price for entry level sound panels, but check quality once received
Size: 12 Pack Color: Black(Pyramid)
UPDATE: As promised here's an update after unpacking over 200 panels. They are still the cheapest 2" panels and may be very worth it in small volumes or if you don't depend on the true measurements of the panels and have time to request replacements. While my first few packs were fine, the additional 16 packs I bought had mixed results. I added photos to show the permanent heat deformation from the manufacturing process that won't go away no matter how many hot baths you soak them in. The foam is already melted to it's final shape as shown. Additionally, the dimensions of the panels range between 11.75" and 12" squared which is also depicted in my photos. The somewhat good news is the deformed panels were only about 10%; however, the smaller 11.75" dimensions were far more common. I have a "sunk cost" dilemma at this point and found a way to make what I have work. I would have asked for replacements, but would have been a shipping/time hassle and I was eager to finish my isolation booth. If others don't have to depend on exact dimensions or have time to push back to ask for replacements, this is still a MUCH cheaper option for 2" panels and the foam quality of the good panels are great. If F.Stop added a disclaimer these are known issues and adds that as part of their return policy, I would happily rate this 4 stars, and if they fixed their QA issues to ensure true 12"x12" and no deformities F.Stop would be 5 stars and the best option for the price on Amazon. ORIGINAL REVIEW:I spent a lot of time looking for these as I need over 200 for an drum set isolation booth, and these are easily the best price for 2" thick panels. I noticed many complained about how malformed the panels were, so I only bought one set to test. As you will see in the pictures, I had no issues whatsoever. The package came with 2 methods to restore the shape, and the second method (see photos) worked in seconds. This is the same solution for many other brands of foam panels like these. I used very hot water, and you can see the comparison photo showing what they looked like before and after being soaked and dried. I also noticed many complaining the panels were not truly 2", but as you can see in my photo these panels definitely are 2". I don't know if F.Stop has changed their product and instructions or if buyers were simply not trying hard enough to restore the shape of the panels, but I have had no issues whatsoever and have purchased the remaining 16 packages I need. I will provide an update once the rest have been received. For now, you cannot go wrong with the price and quality of these entry level panels. ... show more
