  • They're fairly thin
Size: 1" of 12 PACK Color: Black
I needed to record some audio and get rid of some of the reverb in the room, try to insulate and block out external noise, while assisting with the acoustics of the room. These panels are really thin. There was no noise reduction or sound insulation. It did help with the acoustics and reduced the reverb. This is a very good and effective product, for someone on a budget. If you're looking sound treat a room, and really reduce the external noise, you will need to get thicker panels. These helped the audio quality of my recordings, so I will definitely recommend it to anyone. ... show more

  • Pretty Nice Acoustic Treatment Tiles!
Size: 1" of 48 PACK Color: Black
I game a lot, and do streams. My room has a massive echo to it, so I decided to get some of these. I got the 48 pack, which is plenty enough lol. They aren't that small.. anyways, they come in a vacuum sealed bag, but after leaving them sit for a few hours, they have already become fluffed up. I left 2 of the packs in the vacuum sealed bags for a month, and even after finally opening and leaving them sit out for a few hours, they still fluffed up. The only problem I ran into was that I couldn't find a way to stick them to my walls. Now, its recommended that you get 2 sided 3M adhesive tape, so that's what I did.. but.. it didnt work. The tape would stick to the foam for about 20 minutes before falling off of the foam. What I did to solve this issue was I hot glued the foam squares to the adhesive tape, then stuck the squares to the wall, using the other side of the adhesive tape... that worked absolutely fine.. until I tried taking one off. Lol. Didnt realize the adhesive tape was gonna cause the paint on the walls to peel/bubble.. my landlord is gonna hate me, but hopefully i can fix it before i move out, whenever I do. Lol. My suggestion is to find something that will stick to your walls and this foam, without doing damage to either or. ... show more

  • Great for the money -- Buy them earlier than you need them and buy extras
Size: 2" of 6 PACK Color: Black
I used these wedges to add some style and dimension to my new String Swing guitar rack and they worked pretty well. After finishing I tossed some random guitars up there to take a picture for you to see what the tiles look like in context. Two important things to note: * First, as others have mentioned, and as the packaging states, they arrive sealed and smashed together in a plastic bag, and they take ~48 hours to expand to the full size. I've attached a picture where you can see the difference, and even that's not as extreme as it really is as the picture was taken like an hour after opening the bag. So if your plan is to hang these on a weekend, then you really need to get them much earlier in the week so they have time to expand. * Buy more than you think you need. I ended up buying these three times because the first 6 I ordered were a test to see if I liked them, which I did, and then second batch of 6 had 1 tile that looked worse than the others and never fully expanded. I needed 12 tiles for my project, so I ended up buying three 6 packs, so 18 total. Of those 18 there was only the 1 that looked genuinely bad, but there were very slight imperfections in a couple of others that were easy to hide when hanging them. If you're picky about these things, I would definitely buy an extra pack for safety and then just select the best of the lot. I was originally going to use a spray adhesive to attach them to the wall, but I got paranoid about leaving torn pieces of foam stuck to the wall if the project didn't workout. I ended up using the spray adhesive to stick a piece of regular paper from my printer to the back, and then using double sided tape to attach it to the wall (see picture). I had used double sided tape for a different project before and it worked great, but I wasn't sure the double sided tape would bond to the foam long term, hence the paper intermediary. In case you're worried, they are in fact 12"x12" exactly. The rack is 48" across and 4 of them was the exact width. If you're concerned at all, it's fairly easy to squish them up against each other a bit tighter and gain some leeway. If I was to do anything differently, I think I would have painted the wall behind the tiles a black or dark grey because hanging them up perfectly trying to cover every single hint of white AND still keep the lines in a straight grid was challenging. A little paint just in the middle where the lines converge would have gone a long ways. Even still, I hadn't taken into consideration the triangle portions at the top giving a view underneath the guitar rack, leaving me with some clear white spots if you look for them (see picture). I might also do a tad bit more prep work defining the "sides" of my grid with tape or pencil or something to making lining it all up easier. So while I listed some caveats above, at the end of the day, when you take the price into consideration, I would pretty highly recommend these. Whether they offer any level of actual soundproofing I have no idea, but visually they look great. I like the look of them so much in fact, that I think I'm actually going to expand the guitar rack and buy more of them. ... show more

  • Thin and Cheap Comparatively
Size: 1" of 12 PACK Color: Black
2 years ago I purchased foam tiles and sound pads for my home studio and they were THICK, very difficult to adhere to the wall (had to use sewing pins, which ended up working incredibly well vs. the tape that ripped the paint off and couldn't hold the foam tiles), and have proven to be exceptional in sound quality. Purchasing these I guess I thought I would save some money and just buy a quick packet of cheaper ones. I got what I paid for. They are small, flimsy, cheap, came shrink wrapped so small I didn't even know what they were until I cut open the packaging and peeled them apart...now they are permanently smashed from the shrink wrapping. These aren't anything like the old ones I bought, that were thick and expensive. I didn't return them because the room I have didn't need the extra thick sound tiles, and I will put these on the ceiling only to catch some reverb issues. But I wouldn't buy these again. You get what you pay for with sound foam tiles! ... show more
