So I should’ve probably paid attention to another reviewer who said that the included leg screws sucks. If you intend to mount this lumber rack to studs in your garage do not, I repeat do not use the included screws. They will break. check out the first picture that I included that contains two screws in the picture.,The top screw is what they look like initially, and the bottom screw is what it looks like when they snap off when trying to drill into a stud. They are just not thick enough. I guess I should’ve known better. I guess that’s on me, but nowhere in the directions does it say don’t try to use these on studs. So after breaking about two of those lag screws off into the studs and putting holes in the garage wall that I didnt need to I ran to the hardware store and bought 3 inch quarter inch diameter lag screws that did not have a slotted head on top. See the second picture. Don’t get the slotted Phillips head type. You won’t get enough torque on those and you will just end up stripping them out. You need to ratchet these things down into the stud with a ratchet. Overall, once I got the correct hardware to go into the stud installation was a breeze and now they’re up and they look beautiful! ... show more

I learned a lot about this product during installation. I installed mine to be suspended from basement floor joists. Regardless of where you put them, you will need to buy your own hardware, I suggest 2-1/2” to 3” x 1/4” lag bolts and washers to mount the posts if connecting to 2x4 studs behind drywall or otherwise. Washers at the heads are a good idea in any case so you spread out the force of the connection. Next, I would recommend lock nut washers on the bracket bolt nuts. See my photos. If you’re screwing these brackets on, you don't want the nut falling off while the shelves are filled. Seems like a possibility so for a few bucks I put one on each bolt before adding the nut. USE YOUR LEVELS to make sure everything is plumb. Even still some others have pointed out the brackets do not sit level on their own when bolted on. I debated slipping fender washers behind at the bottom to angle them up the 1-2 degrees but decided it seemed sturdier without washer shims. In the end I added 16” wide 3/4” plywood strips on each shelf line to keep my boards straight. I was able to extend out to about 12 feet by using some connection plates underneath and 3/4” screws to extend the 8’ sections (3x 16” from a 4x8’ sanded sheet of plywood.) I cut the third one to give me the additional length. Sanded the edges and eased the cuts/rounder corners with an orbital sander. Wear a mask! Feel free to ask any questions. ... show more

I installed these right after delivery, and the very first bracket I out up, the screw cracked off before the rack was tight to the wall. I thought it was a fluke, but the second screw did the exact same thing. I was installing these in a pole barn to treated 6x6 pine posts. I lost all confidence in screws and purchased replacement bolts at the hardware store. Don’t store anything valuable under these if you plan to use the included screws! ... show more
