  • Good Quality for the Money
Saw these same shelves at a home store for almost 1/3 more money. Strong and carry a good amount of weight. They actually are easy to assemble once you figure out the trick to attaching the uprights joining the bottom and top halves. Nice that there isn't a bag of a million nuts and bolts. Just line up the rivets in the slots and tap. But, when you are joining the top and bottom pieces what I found works is you tap the rivets joining the top and bottom uprights at the same time. If you tap the rivets into the bottom upright first the top wants to bounce loose or doesn't want to engage. The only issue I had was that 1 of the sets I bought was missing an upright. But I called the company located in Chicago directly and they sent me one by UPS pretty quick. So a little inconvenience but great service. I actually just got delivery of a 3rd set. ... show more

  • Great addition to the garage
Had to hammer some bent corners out and one board had a little chip on the corner but nothing serious. Set up was kind of a pain for one person but do able... the whole thing feels very sketchy until you get it completely assembled but once it's together it feels strong! The boards do hold decent amount of weight but due to no center bars they will flex if too much weight is applied. Overall great for storing loose items without having to worry about them falling through grated shelves. ... show more

  • Easy to assemble utility shelves for garage
These shelves came today and my husband put them together in less than an hour. They will work great for storage in our garage and seem to be quite sturdy, though maybe could have used a brace across the underside of each shelf or on the sides. The shelves are particle board and should hold most of what we would put on them, though I'm a little concerned that they might sag in the middle if there are really heavy boxes on them. They advertise that the shelves will hold 800 lbs. per shelf, though I would question that. They look ok for what they are -- utility shelves don't have to be fancy. ... show more

  • Glad I got this shelf!
I was nervous to buy this shelf because some of the reviews claimed it was missing a part. It wasn’t missing any pieces. You don’t need the couplers. If you use the braces and beams to connect the second posts, it works perfectly. It’s VERY sturdy and stable. I had no trouble putting it together. The only tool I would suggest to help you out would be a rubber mallet (we used a hammer with a piece of cardboard as a cushion so we weren’t hammering the metal, but a rubber mallet would have been ideal). Overall, love this shelf and highly recommend it. It looks great, it’s sturdy, and it was simple to assemble. ... show more

  • Buyer Beware - Read the Reviews Closely - Looks at photos
I experienced everything that the other negative reviews state and show. I would say that the damage to the "wood" is not because the packaging is insignificant. Its because the "wood" shelving is junk, too thin. "Heavy Duty" 4000 lbs weight rating "so long as the weight is distributed" - yeah I don't believe it. You can twist the support beams by hand. And that is part of the problem the support beam flex to much. There is nothing heavy duty about this product. This is junk, not worth the money. It was damaged on opening, the four corner uprights are not a Qty. of 4 rather Qty. of 8. The idea is that you stack one on top of the other - using a shelf support beam to keep them stable and connected. The beam having two button like connectors and by placing the bottom connector into the very top slot of the bottom upright and the upper connector of the beam into the very bottom slot of the upper upright joins the two uprights together. However this is very unstable, and connecting the rack together took two very able grow men more than a hour to put together. You can't move it as the connectors don't really stay connected. This is because they don't really "slot" together. Some seem to "snap" into place while others just don't. So pulling, pushing or lifting this makes the joins come apart. So if you mush have this - because the price point is right, plan on not putting it together right away. Get your parts, find some nuts and bolts that will fit and connect the uprights together. If you are handy you might want to get some 3/8 plywood to replace the partial board shelving. You could use OSB sub-flooring which is less expensive than plywood and stronger than the junk that came with this. For the same price I could have made the a longer rack out of 2x4 and OSB shelves that would be heavy duty. ... show more

  • Great shelves for the price
Thought I would write a review since I saw some negative comments … I am very impressed with this product especially for the price. A few notes: 1. Make sure you start with the larger hole opening on the metal brackets ABOVE the smaller opening/channel. That way when you are locking them in place you are putting pressure downward to lock them into the more narrow channel. Once you lock them in they won't move or disconnect. It gets easier as you go - getting the bottom portion put together is the worst part (I was doing it alone). 2. Make sure you have the 4 metal pieces (about 6 inches long) that connect the shelves in the middle. Mine were loose in the box so it would be easy to leave these in the box. 3. When installing start at the very bottom and put the wood shelves in as you work your way up - this gives it more stability as you go. Don't try to just do all the metal parts first and put the shelves in last. Put them in as you go. 4. Getting the metal pieces completely locked into place wasn't easy and I couldn't do it by hand. I used a block of wood and a hammer to gently tap the brackets down into the groove. Once I did this the frame was very sturdy. ... show more
