Three days ago I bought this monitor so I could hook it up to my CCTV DVR. It has never worked. My DVR works perfectly when hooked up to my PC using the VGA cable, but nothing happens when I hook the same VGA cable to this monitor. The power button seems to work, as does the channel button, on the monitor and the remote, but the menu button doesn't do anything at all on the remote or the monitor. I am still waiting for a response from the vendor after three days without a monitor for my surveillance system. UPDATE; The replacement monitor works just fine the moment I connected it. First off, the instructions are virtually useless. They don't do much more than identify the parts and buttons on the unit. There's no info about how to hook up the unit or what kinds of devices it can connect to. All attempts at putting an image on the screen failed - all I ever saw was the message 'no signal'. This is a small and very light weight monitor. Plastic makes it feel a little cheap but it is tiny so that is probably why. Has HDMI and VGA ports and you can switch between the 2 inputs. The buttons are like touch buttons and they suck, you cant tell if they have been pushed and sometimes they don't respond. If this had tactile buttons it would be a lot better. The stand is wide enough to keep it up right as long as you have it centered. If you tilt it too much in any direction it will tip over. It screws into the base and seems to have an alternate mounting point on the back for wall mounting. Includes an HDMI and VGA cable as well as a power cable. The HDMI cable is one of those flat ribbon style cables and I would have preferred a normal one. Luckily I have my own cables and will just swap it out. I have tried to use it on a motherboard I am testing and I know the motherboard works and I am pretty sure this monitor works but I have not been able to get output for it. It could be the resolution it is trying to display is not supported but I will have to test it further to see what it actually supports. I mostly got this monitor to test systems display outs. When I need to test a system and see if its outputting a display signal or change system settings while setting up a new PC, this is what I grab. It's super small and doesn't take up a lot of space. The resolution is a little low but for the purposes I'm using this for, it's just fine. The display is decently bright and colors look pretty saturated as well. The display isn't the sharpest, things can look a little fuzzy at certain resolutions, but again this isn't marketed as a super sharp, crisp, portable display for photo editing or something. This monitor is perfect when you just need a display to test if you're getting a signal or just need a display to change or set system settings when troubleshooting. If you want a portable monitor for media consumption or to work on, you will want something larger and higher res. A good technician always needs a spare display like this though. ... show more
