Should I Buy It?

Its build quality, easy handling, and satisfactory performance make it a great option, especially for individuals under its recommended weight limit. • Sturdy and reliable scooter
We purchased two of the V30 Pro 5th Wheel scooters over the summer, so that my teenage kids had a way to get around, and have a bit of independence. My husband now even rides one to work on nice days and we use them for all sorts of local errands since car parking in LA is brutal! We have been very pleased with the scooters, they are reliable and very sturdy. I appreciate the additional ground clearance compared to some other brands, and also the fact that they have suspension. It makes a huge difference to the comfort of your ride. They charge quickly and the range is awesome, enough for hours of riding. The brakes are responsive and easy to operate, and the turn signals are an added bonus for safety. The customer service is A+, we had a minor crack in the display panel cover upon delivery on one of the items, as the shipping box was a bit beat up. They immediately addressed the problem and sent a replacement. The response to my message was within hours and this really makes a huge impact on my decision to support a brand in the future. We have recommended the V30 to friends who have also purchased them for their kids. We previously had two from another brand that did not even last 14 days and were more expensive, needless to say they were returned, and we are happy that we chose the 5th Wheel brand to replace them. ... show more

  • Very solid scooter for an adult and a great value!
This is my first electric scooter and just finished an 8.2 mile ride with a pretty intense hill and still have 48% left on the battery. It took about five minutes to assemble right out of the box. Install four screws, charge up, and enjoy. I was impressed by how solid this scooter feels. I am just under 200 pounds and it felt very stable riding at full speed. There are no concerning sounds or rattles coming from the scooter anywhere. I wanted a scooter with 10 inch solid tires for durability and longer tire life however, you will feel the bumps more than you will likely feel with a scooter with pneumatic tires. But I was OK with giving up a little bit of comfort to not have to worry about a flat tire. The app was very easy to install, and instantly connected to the scooter with a lot of cool features you can control right from the app, Such as drive mode, headlight options, cruise control settings, and more. For a 36 V 7.5 amp hour battery I was very impressed with the battery life. I don’t doubt this will be able to get its estimated range in eco mode. The 350 watt motor seems to be more than enough to scoot around pretty quick. I had no problem hitting a top speed of 19 miles an hour in sport mode on flat roads. I will say I did hit a very steep road entering into a park, I’m not sure what the grade was, but I could only reach a top speed of about 6 mph until I got to the top of that hill, but I mean a very steep hill. The electronic front brake and rear disc brake feel very balanced, and are perfectly adequate to slow down the scooter from any speed safely. The side and rear turn signals are a nice feature and cruise control is very easy to set and use. It folds up very easily for storage and is a very sleek looking scooter. I don’t think you can find a better scooter in this price range. ... show more

  • Kept me rolling for a whole semester so far
Summary: the battery life is underwhelming but the body is very well made and the scooter is overall very well thought out. The manufacturer is very responsive and helpful to issues. Not for long commutes, but fun rides and short trips work well with it. I've still managed to put over 300 miles on it since I got it My bike got stolen over the summer, and I really didn't want to go back to walking or the bus, and I didn't want to leave myself exposed to more robbery, so I went for an electric scooter I could carry around and lock via software. This fits the nearly impossible to rob criteria I was looking for. I picked it over the rest because it has a higher weight limit than most. At 265lbs, it's one of the few scooters advertised for taller frame guys like me. It's a BIG scooter. The 10 inch wheel size really inspires confidence among the massive potholes in roads and sidewalks ive become accustomed to. When I first saw it, I immediately felt better about having to ride it every day. It rides pretty smooth for a solid wheeled scooter. Despite the size, you can easily carry it with one hand. Some knurling or texturing on the stem might make carrying easier, but some grip tape fixed that for me I come in right around 250lbs, at full battery the scooter can hit 7mph on a moderate slope close to 15% grade, and reaches the eco mode's 10 easily on flat ground up until about 40% battery, at which point it drops to around 8 and progressively slows as battery voltage drops. Kicking to speed up helps here I get close to 8 miles of actual distance out of a full charge on it, which is disappointing. Edit: having had it for 4 months now, it does not get better. 8 miles max effective range for a person my size, and you can only go about 2.5 in one go before the motor overheats. Sitting down for 10 minutes is enough to cool it off, but its still a bit of a pain. The wheels have an evidently large amount of rolling resistance from the motor inside, so much so that taking off the throttle will slow you down very considerably, even when going downhill. The D and S modes are really fun while they last, I can take a short ride somewhere just about as fast as I used to on my bike. Don't expect full speed on anything but flat ground, full throttle though. Kicking it like a regular scooter will give you some very good acceleration that's very fun The construction is solid. The welds are better than some higher end ebikes I've seen. The stem and handlebar assembly are both rock solid, and the folding mechanisms tolerances are razor thin, resulting in functionally no wobble, even if you're carrying it up a flight of stairs. Yet another reason to feel confident in your safety on it. I'm 250 pounds, and I expose this thing to a lot of force, but its still solid. I even felt safe enough to take it out on a few snowy days, it powered through just fine The headlight is small and fairly dim, and shines out in a trapezoid pattern ~4-10 feet ahead of the scooter. A more powerful LED and a wider light cone would be greatly appreciated. The turn signals are mostly useless, no cars heed them at all and i still need to hand signal my turns. Its helpful for telegraphing turns to other pedestrians though. There is a small but fairly high volume thumb bell that is very effective. It creates a clear high pitched ring that is unmistakable, it's a good little detail that wasn't necessary, but is appreciated. The brakes are very strong, and it's important to brace yourself when you're about to stop. The brakes even activate a light on the rear fender of the scooter to alert those behind you. If employed correctly, braking distance at full speed can be as low as 10 feet, but it takes practice. I do feel just as safe on this as I would my old bike. Unlike a bike of similar price, this scooter brakes equally well in dry weather, rain, and snow. The scooter is rated ip54 water resistant. This means it is classed for use in moderate rain conditions. I've ridden it in about a month's worth of rainy and snowy days at this point, so it's solidly weatherproof Since purchasing this, they developed their own app for Google play, and it's decently well laid out and easier to use than their old distribution process. All the data it keeps track of is fun to look at, and the features it toggles are super useful and well thought out. Overall, not what I expected of this scooter. This company seems to have history with good build quality and safety features in a lower priced package and they are exceptionally responsive to potential issues, and that's an exceptional thing to be in a world where alternative transport is becoming way more popular and electric scooters are often called unsafe and cheap. My only problem here is that the range is too optimistic for a 270wh battery with a weight limit of 265 pounds. The quickly overheating motor makes it annoying for longer trips, so stick to short jaunts or youll be stuck waiting for it to cool. You might get 10-12 miles effective and less overheating with a 220 pound weight limit. If you're on the upper side of this scooter's weight limit, expect a lower range I can technically ride farther on cheaper bike and just take my chances with another bike lock, but this scooter surprised me with its durability, safety features, and longevity in spite of its price and battery life. I genuinely feel safe keeping this as my main mode of commuting after these last 4 months, it hasn't failed to ferry me to class in that time, and that's worth saying If you just want something fun to buzz around on for a while or take a few mile long commute every day in just a few minutes, this would be a great choice for you. ... show more
