    • Very nice dryer-styler w/5 attachments; a bit bulky but not heavy (wands not ideal for my hair)
This is a nice combination hair dryer + styling tools. It seems very well designed and the build quality is quite good. The base of the styler feels sturdy; it is a bit large but isn't too heavy. Adding on some of the attachments does make it a bit bulky. I use it most often simply to dry my hair. It is quite powerful and using the medium speed and temperature setting dries my long, baby fine hair in about five minutes. The high heat setting (which is 212 degrees F, according to the product description) is really too hot for me, so if I do use it, it is just for a few seconds. Despite the claims of no heat damage, I definitely think this unit can damage fine, delicate hair like mine, so I try to be very careful using any type of hot styling tool and I don't use them on a daily basis. I do like the cool air feature (activated by a long press). The controls are easy to use. I did have to get used to having the power button positioned well below the settings for temperature and speed (three options for each). The two brush attachments are also helpful for maintaining some fullness when I want to even out and accentuate the bit of wave my hair has naturally. The larger oval one works better for me as my hair tangles very easily and it tends to get stuck in the bristles of the smaller round brush. It can be quite a challenge to get it untangled without pulling or breaking my hair. Too bad, because I did like the idea of the brush being used to add volume (something my hair really needs). I wish it would have worked for me. The large brush does a nice job of leaving my hair in soft, loose curls. I don't particularly care for the wands, however. The idea of auto-curling sounded great, and I like that there are two attachments for curling the hair in different directions. But it just doesn't work for my hair. It is probably best suited for those with thicker hair than mine. And it takes much longer than it would if I just used a traditional curling iron or even better, my old set of hot rollers... The air just whips my hair around before grabbing it and since it is all tousled, it winds up a messy strand of hair, no matter how small a section I work with. Of course, trying to comb the tousled hair means I pretty much comb out out much of the curl, too. I can understand why the product description recommends using a setting spray as the curls aren't very long-lasting, anyway. Changing the attachments is easy enough -- just insert the desired piece (dryer head, one of the brushes or one of the wands) into the central unit and turn the locking ring to hold it securely in place. This 5 in 1 set arrived very neatly packed in a nice box with a hinged lid that makes it suitable for gifting. The box is sturdy and each piece fits in its own space, so it is nice for storage, too. This WIndBlow Hair Dryer set comes with everything you need to style your hair straight, loose curl, or wavy. It arrives in a sturdy box that I think I will save for storage because it is so nicely outfitted. There is a heat glove tucked in with the set (underneath) along with a few clips. You might need the heat glove, so don't get rid of it. The directions say to rough dry your hair until almost dry, but we curlies know that is absolutely not feasible for us. So I used the large oval brush attachment to stretch and dry my hair. I quickly realized the bristles, a combination of plastic and nylon, were not grabbing my hair enough to stretch, so I switched to the smaller, round brush. I sectioned my hair and did one section at a time, like I would with a two-piece brush and dryer. It worked great. I then reverted to the large oval and medium heat/low air and brushed until my hair was (as much as possible) sleek. I got a bit of frizz later in the day, so I pulled this back out and used the two curling wands to add long waves to my hair, randomly moving back and forth between the front curl and back curl. This is when that heat proof glove comes in handy! The curl looked great, but only for about an hour, then Florida frizz set in. It does take a little getting used to how to place the curling wand to get the curl right, but after a time or two, you should get it right. I used medium heat most of the time. I found if I used the high heat, my hair got too hot to touch, so I disagree with the "no heat damage" claim on the box. I looked but could not find the temperatures of the three settings. It definitely gets hotter than the big dollars brand name, so you will have to choose not to use the heat. That's hard to do when we know how much that heat helps tame the frizz! The attachments are easy to use by inserting the attachment, then using the lock feature under it. If you are using an attachment with the heat mode on high, you will need the glove to switch them. The cord is very long and swivels. Great feature and allows me to maneuver it easily! The on/off controls are at the bottom of the dryer handle, so you are unlikely to turn the dryer/styler off accidentally. There is a lint filter, and you are advised to clean it often. As for hand comfort, I found the length of the appliance ridiculously long and I kept finding my hand way up close to the attachments. The weight of it is good and my hand/wrist did not get tired. The noise level was better than average, but it is a motor appliance! All-in-all, I like this, but I feel it gets too hot to really keep from damaging my hair. I will probably use this on not-so-humid days. Balancing the price and performance, I feel this is a good value at the current (approx) $120. ... show more
