Hutch was easy to put together, came without any damage or anything missing. It did have a "paint" smell that disappeared in 2 days. I just left the ramp down after putting into my buns indoor pen area, which is half of my office. I let her choose when to go into it. She checked out the 1st floor after a few days. It took her about 10 days to go "upstairs", and now that is one of her favorite places! She likes to go up there if she feels threatened (like when the dogs are barking a lot), or if she wants to be left alone. It's sturdy, ultra easy to clean (my bun is litter trained, but sometimes has a pellet pop). Not sure if it would last outdoors unless you put a coat of poly or something on it. Perfect size for our guinea pigs and good looking item, but build quality isn’t amazing. Had to use wood glue to fix a small broken piece and alignment for drawers is a little off but still function. The smell is overwhelming but seems to dissipate pretty quickly. Overall it would be great if a little more care was taken in the construction. ... show more

Overall a good product. We have found that the floor area is tight for feed, water and elimination area. No grate on floors, leaving pet to walk in waste. Would recommend grate incorporated in design.

I was excited to get this as I had bought a similar one for my daughter's rabbit 2yr prior. I picked this one as I thought it was a good fit for our guiena pigs. However the upper tray slat was put on to high. We tried to unattached it but couldn't without braking it. So we decided to lift the while upper level. This left a big gap in the part that doesn't have a tray. The lid also doesn't fit properly so it doesn't close. Otherwise the pigs love it. The last one I was able to build start to finish by myself. This one I had to call my boyfriend to help build it (someone had to hold up the middle party since we had to raise it). Also the last one was made a different wood. This one was its fir wood I believe and it has made me so sick. So we're going to clear coat it today. ... show more

The product is awesome, but is made from a softer wood so ours showed up with a few nicks and dings. It was rather easy to assemble but I could have used a little more guidance in its assembly. As far as the latches go we were basically on our own with the alignment. If I hadn't had any experience putting things together like this or if it had been my first build, I'm sure I'd have to have made a few adjustments leaving the lock with an integrity issue.
