This is a solid system for your home. I found it straightforward to install once I got past the documentation issues. The controls are simple, and the general configuration of the system is intuitive. Unfortunately, the system shipped with a digital bypass valve, but the manual was for an analog valve. The technical support on the companies website did not understand the issue and was not able to help me. During transit, the shipper noticed an issue with the large tank (the actual softener) and "refused" delivery due to damage on my behalf. Without even asking, the company got in touch with me to let me know a replacement had been dispatched immediately. Excellent service before we even got the unit in the door! Compared to whole house systems found in most big-box stores, this system is an absolute beast. The softener alone weighs about 160 lbs and is as tall as some people. The brine tank looks like a scaled-down version of an outdoor trash can. Considering the size, it takes up a lot less real-estate than you'd think but isn't designed to move around - once installed, its pretty much there forever. Though I had ours professionally installed along with some other plumbing we had done, the plumber said the instructions were clear and straighforward, and something most homeowners or DIY'ers could figure out easily. I'd suggest getting 5-6 40 lbs bags of salt to get it started. Great company who stands by their product - highly recommend. ... show more

This softener setup shipped and arrived quickly! It was easy enough to install, and we noticed an almost immediate improvement in water quality. However, programming for the digital control valve wasn't intuitive at all. The YouTube video ended up being more helpful there than the printed instructions. Also, it seems the flow meter on our valve isn't working. We double-checked the water meter impeller and probe, bypass knobs and inlet/outlet connections.... Could not get it to acknowledge the water flowing through the system. For now, we currently have it programmed to regenerate about every other week, since it's just two of us in the house. Hopefully we can figure out a fix! Seems to be a good value for the price; saved us thousands. ... show more

My 7 year old softener started struggling so I upgraded and bought this unit. This softener has more settings than my old unit but the big item you need is know the hardness level of your water. I went to my water company's website and found my hardness level and adjusted my new Tier1 unit using that number. Can't deal with hard water once you have felt treated water from a softener. Know your hardness level of your water. If not on your utility website, call your water company for that info. ... show more

I never used a water softener before, but when I compared my water to my neighbor's it was obvious I needed one. This unit is basically the same as the commercially available softeners, but its less than half the price, and came with almost everything I needed to install it.
