I needed an overhang at my kitchen door to stop rain and leaves from collecting at the threshold. This product works beautifully. It is light weight, plastic and plexiglass, so I still get light on an otherwise shadyside of my house. It took about 45 minutes to read the directions and to install. Easy peasy. The only reservation I have is we haven't yet had any snow but I don't foresee any problems. I will say if you have high winds or heavy snows where you live you might not want to use this.     • Great for the price
Overall it is acceptable, look at what you are paying, don't compare it to the metal awnings from home improvement stores, this is way cheaper. I don't expect it to survive a hurricane, but it looks like it will last a few years over my front door for a great price. I can replace it multiple times and still not have spent as much for a full metal one. I saw a review describing the material as card board, and that isn't accurate, it is the same physical structure (as in a top and bottom layer reinforced with vertical structures between) as cardboard but it is some sort of plastic so I expect it to withstand the rain easily I would buy another if needed ... show more

    • Difficult to assemble and flimsy
Several problems with this awning. One, I ordered the 80 inch width, which is not designed as an 80 inch assembly, it's just two 40 inch awnings, with no reliable way to fasten the two sections into one. I had to add a brace to connect the two sections so they would hold together. Two, it's impossible to assemble this 80 inch awning up on a ladder. I ended up putting it together on a backing board on the ground, and then installing the entire thing above the door as one piece. Three, the connection between the glazing sheets and the support brackets is just a press fit - it popped apart with a small snow load (New Hampshire). ... show more

The style is beautiful however, assembly was cumbersome. A single unit would be easy but putting two together was more difficult. There was not enough set screws so I had to raid my stash to find something to substitute. I don't think this is going to withstand any kind of wind storm. I really love the look of this, and my cats are now enjoying being able to use their cat door even when it rains. Would have given 5 stars if it had arrived undamaged. It was well packaged, so I don't think it was damaged in transit. There are several spots were the awning looked almost melted. Thankfully I was able to hide most of them when assembling, or I would have had to return this big package. On the plus side, it seems pretty sturdy for such a lightweight item and it was decently simple to put together ... show more

    • Don't buy it
This is not as advertised, it has wedge anchors not screws to install it on your house and the screw holes were drilled too large for the retention screws that actually hold it together. We wound up replacing the screws and using gorilla glue to keep it together. All in all I would not advise buying this. There have to be better products on the market. ... show more
