Just got back from a camping trip and took these tongs along! They worked great! Usually we are trying to use other logs and sticks to move the logs around. This results is almost getting burned and is not ver efficient. These are long so you are able to stand back from the fire with a little distance, it gives you a better visual and you are not burning you hands and arms! We like having back yard fire pits and camping fires, I will always have a pair of these around to move the logs! They are easy to use, and are heavy duty. These are not cheap metal and bend easily, these are strong and get the job done. I did notice after the first use some of the paint coming off at the bottom from the heat of the fire. For years, we've been fighting with our bonfires trying to adjust logs using a poker. It takes forever and you stand there getting smoke in your eyes the whole time, burning up your hands too. If I had realized they made log tongs, I'd have bought them years ago! These were slightly awkward at first just because of the size, but they're worth it and it's easy enough to get used to. They have little teeth at the top to help you grip the logs as well. They can also open extremely wide for whatever log size you're burning, but I wouldn't try to get a really big one unless you've got body builder arms lol. No more smoke in my eyes, taking 15 minutes to try and get a log into place, or burning my hands from taking so long. Success! ... show more

Pretty good product. Easy to use, no assembly required. Handles are easy to hold and it works well for picking up average or smaller sized logs. The thing that would make this a five-star would be some type of hook on the handle part to hang it up and something that would lock it in the closed position. Otherwise, can't complain...it's been a nice addition for my fire-pit "tools". ... show more

My husband and I moved into a new home this past year - and it happens to have a campfire area in the backyard. The firepit itself is somewhat small, so moving logs is sometimes necessary. We didn't have a great way to move those logs (except for poking them with sticks, which was tenuous at best) until now. This is an excellent campfire tool. The teeth at the end do a reasonable job at biting into logs and, as long as the logs aren't too large, it is easy to place logs into their desired position. The poles on this device are quite large and I expect that it will hold up for a long time. There were some small defects in the exterior paint when this arrived in the mail - but as an outdoor tool, it will get a little beat up over time regardless. I have a 6-foot firepit which I like to use regularly. For the longest time I’ve had to use a solid stick to move the logs around on the fire to arrange them for the best burn. I used to call this my “fire stick” as I was constantly trying to keep that stick from burning while moving the logs that were on fire. With this “Log Tongs Firewood Grabber” I can now safely pick up the burning logs and place them where I want. Your standard scissor-like fireplace grabbers are too short to move logs to the center of a fire pit as large as mine. This is long enough and strong enough to pick up and place the largest of the logs I need. Nice solid handles on one end and teeth on the other end that grabs into the logs. This should even work to help me pick up logs in my pasture. If you enjoy outside burning, or you have a firepit, this is a must have. ... show more

Tube steel - hollow tube steel. A lie pure and simple. Not wrought iron. Will not last like wrought iron would. No bargain here. AMAZON - make this vendor label this product truthfully. This is a bait and switch.
