So I'll preface and say I am a beginner in the percussion field but have had a blast using these sticks to practice on a drum pad with no issues. Some of the pros are... - Comes in 4 complete sets so if you happen to misplace or break one then you've got plenty extra to use. - Color coordinated so there isn't a ton of difference in the fulcrum point from stick to stick and stays consistent. - Great value for what you're getting, especially if its just for practice. Now the cons... - The sticks do have some inconsistencies with the sound output. Depending on which stick is being used the audible sound can sound anywhere from "thocky" to "pingy" - The other drawback is objective but the aesthetic of the sticks scream preliminary or beginner so using for performances might seem a bit off, but use what you've got! I have some Taiko (太鼓) drum sticks from Japan that are heavier than these and like anything heavier they take longer to work up to. These maple wood sticks are light, and perfect for practicing. I can't beliwve what a great value they are! Not just for the nice wood, but also for the nice covers that feel good. The colors are nice, white, yellow, green, and yellow. I got these Maplewood Drumsticks for my Disabled Son. He has a drum machine and likes to play it but has trouble sometimes hold on to the sticks and thought these would be great for him. They have a silicone sleeve on the bottom for easy handling. You get 4 sets of drumsticks in different color sleeves. They are a little longer than normal sticks but not much, only an inch or two. They are lightweight and easy to hold, which is great for him. Easy to use. Great for beginners or experienced users. The price is fantastic, especially for 4 pairs A great bargain. Work great. First off, 4 pairs of sticks for $10 is a great deal for anyone, but to top it off they added these sleeves that are thin and snugged onto the sticks that add some friction to the sticks making them not as slippery as they normally are. The sleeve works great at adding just enough friction to help you hold on but they still allow you to easily slide and adjust your grip if you need to. I also love all 4 colors that it came with but if I had my way, I would swap the yellow for red because that is my favorite color. They are lightweight, lighter than what I am used to but it does help reduce wrist fatigue which helps me out as I am a beginner. ... show more

I'm really liking these drum sticks so far. I'm a beginner drummer and I play on a Roland electronic drum kit. The wood on these sticks feels pretty nice. Overall they feel pretty durable, but i guess we'll have to see how that holds up over time. The rubber grips feel pretty nice, although I wish they were textured as their grip starts to fade when your hands get sweaty. So far, I've been playing pretty well with them and I'm happy with the way they perform. For only $10 you get four pairs of these things, which is just insane value! I highly recommend these for budget conscious and/or beginner drummers! ... show more

If you get these don't forget to put some tape against the grips and the drumsticks to hold them together . Otherwise ? If you're just practicing Etc on a pad or just trying to get acclimated and not trying to beat the heck out of your drums as it were lol . I ordered these expecting them to be sized for a child. I ordered both the plain wood and the ones with the color coded bottoms. I am hoping the other set is child sized. They seem to be good quality just too big.
