Got the td 50 kv. Went through a bunch of sticks as I'm old and slow but still think I'm Neil Peart's twin brother... I've had a pair of these for @1 year..they are simply the most expressive stick.. I love these sticks. I used to play in marching band and I now play mostly pop and rock drums. I like these sticks because I am used to heavy and long sticks and these give me a similar feel to marching sticks. My other preferred sticks are VF Buddy Rich signatures. These promark sticks are heavy compared to other 5b type sticks and they are a bit top heavy. I am fine with that but it is not for everyone. A note about the wood, oak is a good wood for sticks. It is very durable and it has a different breaking pattern than hickory. In my experience oak sticks last longer before splintering and do not chip as easily. I really like the balance of these sticks in oak. For me the length and diameter are just right for power and finesse. I have another oak pair of the 747’s and they hold up a lot better than hickory. I prefer the nylon tips. I rarely have problems with the tips. Since these oak sticks are more durable, I like the value I get for them. ... show more

for 95% of drumming jobs, these are my go-to sticks; i use them almost exclusively. they are powerful sticks, almost as big around as 2A's and just as heavy, if not heavier. durable white oak makes them less likely to split, and the thick overall design makes for strong tips and necks. they're well-balanced and nicely paired, and generally come with the quality Pro-Mark craftsmanship you would expect. MOST OF THE TIME. buying these by the case, or on-line and unable to inspect each pair beforehand, you run a significant risk of getting a few duds in the collection - these sticks are lighter and brittle, and i've had numerous sticks split almost immediately. this is always a concern with any stick and manufacturer, but with these the recent dropoff in quality and increase in bad sticks-to-good ratio has been pretty disconcerting. i fear that if these sticks continue to be unreliable i'll have to switch - Pro-Mark: please improve the consistency of quality in these sticks, even if it means paying a higher price in the end. it doesn't matter how cheap they are if they splinter on first use. ... show more

I have used this exact model of Neil Peart signature sticks for decades now. The Shakira Oak wood is denser than hickory and they last longer. I also like the sound of my cymbals with these sticks, ping rides are ping-ier compared to hickory ProMark 747.
