  • These sticks are nice
Style: 5BVG
These Vic Firth American Classic 5B - VIC GRIP, are the first set of "GRIP" sticks I've had in my hands, and OUCH! I was not ready for the grip. I started warm-up exercises with 5-stroke rolls and about 30 min in, I had an open blister on my right index finger. I had to change my tightness of grip. There is no dropping this stick. I like this stick after all is said and done. I will keep at it and try other brands to compare the "GRIP." ... show more

  • My Favorite Brand of Sticks!
Style: 5BN
These have been my favorite brand of sticks since shortly after I started playing drums as a young teenager, and I'm now 27 at the time of writing this. The durability of these is what blows my mind. I play for at least an hour a few times a week, and I play Heavy Metal. These sticks can stand up to quite a bit of abuse before the even start to chip away, let alone break. A standard 3-pack of these sticks will last me several months before I need to buy more. Comfort is the next thing that I love. These sticks don't give me calluses like some of the other brands that I've used before. Some would say that bad grip would be the cause, but my argument would be why do only some sticks give me calluses when I have the same grip across all of them? It's not the grip; it's the sticks themselves. Vic Firth uses high-quality materials, and it makes for a very comfortable stick. I love the nylon tips as well, as they aren't as rough on heads or cymbals as wooden tips are. Or at least, I don't think they are. I guess that's a matter of opinion. All in all, if you're looking for a new brand of sticks, I definitely recommend giving these a try! ... show more

  • Solid 5b stick with extra laquer
Style: 5BDG
The media could not be loaded. I use these 5 B's more for practicing. I love the extra lacquer which feels good playing traditional or regular grip, feels nice in the hands. My only issue I have is the bead of the stick tends to start wearing out. Now that could be because I'm playing a lot with them. I just take a little bit of sandpaper after a while and just smooth them out. Gracias. ... show more

  • Good solid sticks
Style: Value Pack
Love the Vic Firth black sticks and this multi-pack is a great deal. I play death metal so they get a rough workout but hold up pretty well. Sometimes I wrap some black electrical tape from near the tip to midway down to add a layer of extra protection.

  • Slippery When Wet
Style: Value Pack
Nothing beats the classic Vic Firth in 5B, but for roughly $7/pair, these sticks represent a good value. Yet, please note that when your hands start to sweat, it's almost impossible to NOT have these things slip like crazy or even worse, go airborne. The black coating on the stick makes it super slippery after a few minutes of playing. Take a little sandpaper to the lower-half of the stick. Problem solved. After sanding, the upper-portion has an extra layer of protection against cymbal strikes and rim shots, while still giving you full control of the lower-half. ... show more
