    • Nice toy for car trips, keeps young kids occupied

This gamer will appeal to little kids, in the 4-8 age range, I'm guessing. The older kids, the tweens and the teens, they have phones, they can text, they can watch tick tock, they will not be interested in this handheld gamer. The problem with the little kids using this gamer is you'll have to explain everything to them. The part of the direction manual that gives tips for each individual game on the gamer is printed in microscopically tiny print. And considering that the kid using this gamer is probably not a skilled reader yet, if they're reading it all, makes things more complicated. But if you're one of those weird patient parents, or maybe you only have one kid so you are used to hovering, that probably won't bother you. The screen of this gamer seems a little bit small but there's plenty of larger sized control buttons and such, kids like that. And the games are really brightly colored as you play them. My intention for this gamer is that it will be put away and will only be taken out to be used when going on car trips. Cuz if a kid can play with it anytime he wants he will get sick of it really quickly. So if you're packing to go on a trip and you tell him to put the gamer in his tote to keep in the car next to him, he'll probably complain that he doesn't want it. And will expect you to buy him something new. So let's keep that newness going by only taking it out when you're on a car trip. Bought this for my son...and he gave it a big thumbs up. He plays a lot of PC games and has a number of the retro consoles....and he said this was goofy and fun. I asked him about it and he said that the games were OK...that "for being a cheap little toy, the games are pretty great". Other reviewers have said that only young children would enjoy this. I disagree. Anyone with a sense of humor and an appreciation for retro gaming would get a kick out of this little console. There are a lot of games on this thing. And, for the most part, they're all pretty good. Fun little handheld gaming system....and it gets a thumbs up from a young guy who can be critical when the situation calls for it.
