This saw is great universal saw. I have cut down 8” round trees, branches. Super light, easy to control and quiet. Great deal for any home owner that does not need a real chainsaw or for a quick pruning. Cuts very fast and makes quick work of small trees, Shrubs, limbs. If you do live in country or cut wood to burn you will still need a regular chainsaw. -Con’s: 1. Little difficult installing bar & Blade. But after you do it a couple times it gets better. 2. I got a small version of this for general use and used it alot so I got one to deal with a tree that went down. If it fits it cuts.

    • Total Junk and Dangerous
I purchased this because I have a plethora of Dewalt batteries. This little saw eats batteries (compared to an actual Dewalt chain saw. But the far bigger issue is the lack of the safety mechanisms working at all. The guard does move between two positions (as it should for kick-back) but it does not shut the saw off in either position. The chain adjustment tool which is critical on this saw since it comes with 3 different bars is poorly constructed and needs to be adjusted after nearly every cut. The side cover comes loose which allows the bar to rattle around and it lacks a proper oiling mechanism, expect to have to refill the bar oil reservoir every few cuts and to have bar oil EVERYWHERE. To top it all off, there was a small metal bar in the bottom of the case when I received it but I couldn't find anywhere that this part would go. Steer clear and save your money. ... show more

    • The safety release button to release the power trigger is just in the absolute wrong place
This configuration with the button to release the trigger makes use a one hand operation very hard, therefore you have to release the trigger with one hand while starting the chain with the trigger and then put the chain on the item to cut which then kicks the bar up.

    • Good little chainsaw
This is a small saw though the design / shape and pictures look like a full size chainsaw. So, it's essentially similar usage / purpose as one of the single hand grip mini chainsaws - small trees and branches or carving and woodworking. But the two handed design makes this saw more 'handy' - easier to use on larger cuts or odd positions. The micro chain (1/4inch pitch x .043 bar channel width) coupled with high enough chain speed seems to make it more effective than a 3/8 x .050 chain of similar length, on a B&D LCS1240 for instance. It cuts smother and as fast or faster than the LCS1240. The main detraction is that the safety release for the power switch / trigger is hard to use - especially with gloves on. The release button doesn't stick out far enough to easily feel it and press it. A lever tab type release such as on a Dewalt DCS672 / DCS677 is the easiest safety release to use. All in all ,this is a good / useful chainsaw. Recommended. ... show more
