  • It works but not easily
Size: 26FT
I have a lot of trees with branches much higher than 14-17' so I was happy to find this. It came on time and has a decent carrying case. The blades are not of the quality of the shorter trimmers, but they do ship two of them. When I started putting the sections together, I was ready to return it. There were no directions as to which fits with which and it seemed like they just didn't fit together. But eventually I got it together. Once it is together, it is reasonably sturdy. And I first used it to cut down a high big (7" in diameter) branch that was dead and driving me a little crazy. It worked fine, but I cut it in multiple steps so I did not break anything as the pieces fell, including me. I then used it to cut down a smaller branch that was probably 30+ feet off the ground. It is not easy to maneuver, but I got it down. A reviewer said you need to be fairly strong to manage it. If you have the entire 26' connected, that is an understatement. Do not try to disconnect more than one section at a time as it binds and it nearly impossible to do it. But if you do it one at a time, it is easy. Same for connecting. I have to say I am suitably pleased with the trimmer. It is definitely worth the money. FYI, I numbered the sections to help assemble. And the fewer sections you use (obviously), the easier it is to manage. ... show more

  • Works Well/Takes Effort/Hand Grip Came Off on Second Day of Use
Size: 26FT
First, I would say that I would buy this again. Poles are long (longer than you can probably use) and pretty sturdy for the height. Blade is sharp. Extra blade is great to have and one of the reasons why I bought this product as compared to competition. Carry bag is essential as you approach the trees to get the correct height on the pole. Cutting high branches takes work so be prepared but that is to be expected and is manageable if you want a good shoulder/arm workout. Once I got "started" I found more and more low or dead branches to cut (some quite high). Very addicting. Also, the hooks on each end of the blade are essential for ease of cutting but also VERY helpful to grab dead vines on trees to pull down. The reason I only gave it four stars is because, on the second day, the rubber bottom and mid pole grip handle on the lowest pole both came off (I couldn't find them in the woods). At first I thought I left that pole section on the ground as I modified the pole height periodically but then (after looking around for them for a while) I realized they had just slid off since that end of the pole had no metal connector piece like the others. You don't really need the grips but they should have been more securely attached so a one star "demerit." Overall, very glad I bought this! ... show more

  • It saved me over a thousand dollars ... but you can't handle it.
Size: 26FT
I had a 40+ foot tall birch tree that was leaning precariously toward the power line that feeds our house. Every time we got a strong south wind I'd wonder if that would be the day we would be involuntarily removed from the grid. A tree service guy who was doing work for my neighbor took a quick look and quoted me $1500 to cut it down and dispose of it. (Not much less just to cut it down.) Short story, I used this pole saw to cut it down. Long story, I cut the tree off in many smaller sections and avoided hitting anything but dirt. But that included taking off some of the branches with me standing on the roof of my house. And THAT's why you can't handle it. My house is two stories tall which gave me the extra height I needed to get to the top branches but it's also 15 feet away from the tree I was after. And although this polesaw only weighs 15 lbs or so, in the middle, by the time you extend the saw to it's full length away from you while you grasp it toward the end, the laws of physics/engineering state that you won't be strong enough to make the saw end go where you want it to cut. You know... kind of like the principle of the lever. Or maybe think of it as a really long torque wrench working against you. "Give me a lever long enough and a place to stand and I can move the world." Give me a pole saw long enough and although I can easily hold it from the middle, if I hold it from the end I'm gonna have a problem. So maybe you can do it. But you have to be tricky. When I was still working from the ground, I planted the handle end against a structure and with it braced there, held onto it the pole and walked it back until it was upright. When it's standing straight up it doesn't seem as heavy (no leverage working against you) but you still have to fight it to keep it there like a guy trying to keep plates on a pole spinning. From the upright position your next challenge is to slowly lower the blade end and let it come to rest against the branch you are after. But the more you leave vertical the heavier it seems to get. So you may miss the branch and be faced with trying to slow down (good luck!) a rapidly descending and increasingly heavy sword of death flying toward whatever happens to be underneath it. From the roof I was unable to brace the pole when wielded it. And although I didn't need to go as high, I had to go further out. That meant that I had to use a kind of javelin technique to get the blade to land on the target branch. I pointed the blade end where I needed it to be,holding it as far out as I was able to, and then thrust it quickly up and away from me and hoped it reached. I admit that I had to give up after one such session because my arms had turned to jello after many failed attempts. I tried again the next day after a rest and was successful. Your results may vary. For comparison, I am 6' 1" and 190 lbs(plus or minus). And although I'm not as strong as I used to be because ... old age ... I'm pretty sure that I'm still stronger than my much younger wife and son-in-law ... combined. Oh .. and I also snapped one of the joints when the pole became trapped between the roof and a heavy branch that was accelerating earthward at 9.8 meters per second squared. Not the products fault. But the steel threads couldn't handle the hit it took. So rejoined the surviving pieces and continued work with one fewer 98cm long section (I measured). ... show more

  • Cuts fast and at great heights
Size: 26FT
Wasn't sure about this, but ordered it. Fast shipping! It's so long I don't think I'll ever use the full length, but you only add as many sections as you need. It cuts AMAZINGLY fast and is fun to use. Came with 2 blades, I just use it in my yard, I have tons of trees that need trimming. Why pay a pro? In under an hour I easily cut a lot of high, large diameter branches. Assembles easy and comes apart for storage. Really am impressed with this saw. ... show more

  • Sharp blades and can extend far
Size: 26FT
Very sharp blades. I've used it a lot now, and the blade is holding up. Still on the first one. I see a lot of complaints about the weight. Yes, it is heavy when all units are used for maximum length. If it was any lighter, it would be flimsy when you are cutting. It's already very awkward to use at max length, but it would be with any pole at this size. Yes, you need to be strong in order to wield it. It's not for the week. But it does the job, reaching my high branches. ... show more

  • too long to handle....
Size: 26FT
It looks good in the photo and I suppose if one were strong enough to angle it to vertical one might trim branches way up high but it takes talent to pull this off. The pole is way too long to lift from the horizontal so oone has to hold the partially assembled pole vertical while attaching sections. This proves to be tricky. Using it only partially assembed works fine. The included saws are sharp and rip through limbs. ... show more
