This is now my third expandable hose for my wife to use. In examining how the hose is made, it appears to me that this hose won’t easily spring a leak like previous hoses because the outside material is rubbery and thick. The previous brands used a thin water tube that expanded in a nylon braided outer jacket and was so this that it would burst like a water ballon. Unfortunately when I looked at the internal diameter, I saw that it is only as big as a stick ball point pen ( about 1/4 inch) or about the size a large drinking straw. The manufacturer may have improved the leak problem, but at a severe cost of water flow. For watering our raised bed vegetables, the water flow is adequate. I would NOT recommend this hose for washing cars or other jobs requiring serious water flow. Yes, the male and female ends may be standard sized, but the hose inner diameter will choke off any large water flow. The bottom line is that even with the water restriction, I expect this hose to last a few years rather than a few weeks like previous brands. Please note, I highly recommend that you twist the hose connections when you get this hose and make sure they remain tight if you unscrew the hose from the faucet or hose nozzle. ... show more

It's very lightweight and the hose is like a semi squishy. Kind of feels cool in your hand. It does expand when the water is there but not as much as you'd think. When the water was shut off you do need to hold the spraying down to release the remaining water but it does retract and get smaller. Sprayed down the side of the house and the car and had no issues with it. The sprayer nozzle worked like a charm and I love the touch of the valve shut off so you can stop the water anytime you want without going back to the faucet and turning it off every time you need to.
