Bought these to get oils thar were floating on top of my pool. Tossed a couple in the skimmer and in a couple of hours they were green/ brownish color. My water was perfectly clear but these little guys got all of the tiny algae particles you could not even see were there. I would not suggest using more than a couple days before discarding because the chemicals do seem to break the spinge down, but they ate so cheap it's worth it. ... show more

Threw one in, day 2 it was already brown and gross. That little turtle gathered oils, ants and beetles. Threw another one in and it last a few extra days. Same for the 3rd one. Definitely a need for your pool!

If these things just turned brown, that would be fine but I've had 2 completely dissolve in my hot tub. Thought the first one was a weird fluke but the second dissolved in about a week. Chemical levels were all check and in normal parameters too.

When used they turn yellow/brown really quickly as expected from doing their job. But the ones sitting in a bag completely unused and away from water still yellowed after a few weeks. Still seamed to work though. If you care about appearance but a knitted cover.
