This is a well-constructed wall safe. The door is quite thick and very heavy, while the "cabinet" appears to be made of stamped sheet metal - it's definitely designed to protect against intrusion from the front rather than the back. It sits about 2.5" narrower than the studs in the location I chose for mounting, so I had to made some shims out of 2x4s to get both sides securely fastened. The locking mechanism works well and was easy to program. A wall safe isn't going to have the security of some other designs, so make sure this design is appropriate for what you're looking to do - but I think this is designed quite robustly for a wall safe and is definitely far more secure that some other designs I've seen that are more like a wall locker than a safe, even though they're sold as safes. The locking mechanism is a couple inches thick and does eat into internal space somewhat, so you may find that this doesn't provide as much depth for storing your items as you would expect from the dimensions - of course, it's big so it can provide beefy security, so that's not necessarily a downside - just something to be aware of. This didn't come with a template, which would be a nice addition for marking out the wall prior to cutting. Overall this is a good choice and delivers a lot of quality for the price. ... show more

It was easy enough to install; took about an hour for my husband and I to install, most of that time was cutting drywall. I wonder if it's actually fireproof--the metal is quite thin. So thin that the whole safe warped and wouldn't close until we put the last screw in. (Also, the screws suck. One broke even though the stud was predrilled.) The shelves are not adjustable, just removable. The interior is very small. Probably not smaller than the measurements say, but you know how when you get something and it just seems small... ... show more

I ordered this safe to install in my bedroom to secure certain home-defense item away from my small kids. I specifically ordered this one because of the keypad AND mechanical key. I backup key is mandatory for me, in case the battery dies. I was able easily find a stud cavity in my closet to get it installed. Though, I did have to add some blocks to the inside of one stud as the safe weirdly does not actually measure 14.5" which is the US standard width between studs. Once installed the instructions made it easy set up the keypad. The inside is a little slim which required me be a little creative with the size of my home-defense item. But once I got it set up it easily fits and secure my item. Overall, I'm actually quite pleased with the design and price of this home safe. Would definitely recommend. ... show more

    • This safe has no fireproofing ability at all.

I received the safe and after opening it I found out that it is just a metal thin walled safe. It has a single wall with no kind of fireproof ability at all. It will not protect the contents against heat or fire in no way.. It is also just a couple inches deep so not much room to put items.
