  • Terrific but could be even better!
Color: Gray
When the unit arrived I didn't get past unpacking it as I could hear loose pieces rattling around inside. Usually an option with Amazon when you return a defective item is to send a replacement. For this, you process a return for refund and if you want to replace it, you reorder. Not a big deal. My pool is not big. It is a 10,000 gallon 13 x 26 with a set of stairs and a bench. For the past 17 years I have used one of those Polaris sweepers that is connected to the pump by a long hose. It has 3 wheels and cleans, in a totally random fashion using suction. If it gets stuck, every 5 minutes it runs a reverse jet. Still, at times the line gets tangled. I should also note, the colder the water, the stiffer the hose, and the worse it cleans. I also have a salt water pool which periodically self cleans the chlorine generator which purges a bunch of calcium flakes or calcium sand into the pool. The Polaris does only a so, so job of picking this up. The Polaris also requires running the pool pump on high for hours which is a waste of electricity, and still misses lots of spots. After charging the Scuba the night before, I couldn't wait to put it to the test. I had deliberately let the calcium accumulate as it would let me see if the Scuba was missing any spots. Here is my results upon first use and a number of ways to improve the product, 1 - I left it on the default "Auto" setting which cleans the walls and then the floor. The Polaris was pretty much worthless in cleaning the walls. Furthermore, the Scuba has suction PLUS roller brushes, so it does a decent job on the walls. The Polaris only has suction. Sometimes the Scuba would skip over sections (4 - 5 feet) of wall for no reason, but the second time around it pretty much got the spots it missed. When it started a third round on the walls I pulled the unit out and relaunched it in floor mode. Auto is suppose to automatically do both but I am wondering if it just keeps doing the walls until the battery is at 50%, then moves to the floor. (See recommendations below). Note there are 4 settings, Auto which does walls and bottom, walls only, bottom only, and Eco which does a periodic 45 minute cleaning. 2 - I was amazed to see this unit cleaned the pool bottom virtually spotless including all the calcium. That being said, it is supposed to work like mowing the lawn. That is, each pass should overlap the prior pass a little bit. This unit does not overlap, consequently it leaves 'skippers' (see photo). That being said, it did a second north-south run which got most of what it missed, and then started east-west runs. But by the time it started east-west, I noticed the suction had diminished. I guessed right away why. The calcium was clogging the filter. So I pulled the unit and sure enough, even though the filter was perhaps 10% full, it was clogged enough to make a difference. After cleaning, I put the scamp to work again and it worked much better but this is where another improvement is needed (see below). 3 - Stairs - I have one circular set of stairs and an underwater bench. The Polaris was worthless with respect to these features and I had no hope the Scuba would be any better. Imagine my surprise when this little buddy cleaned most of these two features. 4 - Getting stuck - There are times when Scooby-Doo gets stuck in a corner or the stairs. If you give it a little time, it always works itself loose. 5 - How did it do - I have to admit, my pool has not been this clean since it was new. I am extremely satisfied so far. But I have a number of ideas as to how to improve this thing. A - It really could use a remote. I can't imagine a remote would add more than $50 to the price and would allow you to change modes without retrieving the unit, tell it to return to the home spot or even climb the wall and stay there for 10 seconds giving you a chance to grab it without the hook. Also, if you had a spot or two that needed attention, you could navigate the unit to the spot. B - I really don't understand the multiple passes thing. You should (with the remote) control how long you wanted it to run or how many passes, both for wall and floor. C - When cleaning the pool bottom you should be able to control the overlap. When I ran it, it left strips between each pass. There should be a way to contol the 'overlap' so it hits everything without having to do additional passes. But when all is said and done, this is night and day better than the old Polaris. And it is nice not having to remove the long hose when using the pool. I'm sure maintenance will be more costly but a small price to pay for the convienence, energy savings, and super clean pool. ... show more

  • Really Works!
Color: Gray
First of all, I will say it was not perfect, but I have an unusually shaped pool. I have avoided buying a robotic vacuum for that reason. I have an old Buster Crabbe Lazy L design. The deep end has only about a 6 foot square which lies 9 feet deep below the diving board that is actually a flat surface. The deep end is like a basin that slopes up on all sides with a long steep slope up to the shallow end which is 4 feet deep. The Aiper Scuba S1 had difficulty with cleaning the walls as the bottom sloping in every direction in the deep end threw its pattern off and it would drift off course. On the floor only setting, it did a great job, even thoroughly cleaning a very large rough area where we had repaired the floor lining previously. It is super easy to operate, the filter is easy to use and rinse out. I love that I can drop it in my pool and just walk away without dealing with hoses, long poles, air locks in my pump system and such. Great little device! ... show more

  • Does a good job but is essentially disposeable
Color: White
I bought this product July 2022. Less than 2 years ago. This Spring I ran it a couple of times and the filter screen ripped. I contacted customer service to BUY another one and they tell me the product is our of warranty (I was aware and ready to buy the part I needed) and that it is discontinued so I have to buy a whole NEW vacuum but don't worry they'll hook me up with a $20 discount.....So rather than spend like $40 on a new screen I have to spend hundred of dollars. My biggest gripe is that when I bought it, the model I bought was advertised as the new version of that model. Meaning even if I took their $20 discount and bought a new one, I would probably be in the same situation in two year. The battery life on it is still solid, the suction power is still good but its pretty much useless without the filter. Why make a great machine that actually works well but make it obsolete after a couple of year? Oh right, its a money grab scam. ... show more

  • Cleans flat bottom and walls well
Color: Gray
This robot vacuum is very convenient and does a good job cleaning the floor and walls of our pool. However, I have slanted walls leading to and on the sides of the pool leading to the deep end. This totally messe up the robot’s direction and it ends up going helter skelter all over the pool. Some areas around the deep floor are missed where it meets the slopes. A little frustrating, but it’s a lot easier to use than my old one. I guess I’ll keep it. ... show more

  • Fantastic but……
Color: Gray
I have had the Aiper Scuba S1 cordless vacuum for approximately three weeks and it works as advertised except that we have rectangular pool that goes from 4-8 feet and as it gets deeper starting from 5 feet there are slants in the floor between the wall and the actual floor of the pool and unfortunately the vacuum always gets hung up on the slants. The Aiper works great but unfortunately it is not working in our pool too good. ... show more

  • Pool game changer!
Color: Gray
I’ve never had an inground pool, and this vacuum has been a game changer! It’s super easy to use, clean, and does a good job! I charge it every night and use it every day. We love watching it climb the walls and work. You can literally see where it has cleaned! Worth the money for sure!
