  • It's a MacBook pro, what can I say
Style: Apple M1 Max Chip Capacity: 1 TB Color: Space Gray
The computer is amazing. What else can I say. I expected a lot, and it delivered. The battery life is phenomenal, and it charges super fast. I haven't really been able to challenge the computing power much because of how well equipped this machine is. I frequently run Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Lightroom and Chrome with 20 tabs open simultaneously with no issues. The speakers are mind boggling. They somehow create this amazing surround sound effect and I still don't understand it. I will say, it is very heavy. Noticably heavier than past models I've owned. But it makes sense considering how much this machine is packing in. I had some qualms about the notch on the screen, but I've installed an application called TopNotch that blacks out the top bar and hides the notch for most scenarios. The screen real-estate is great though. I also appreciate the periodic 120hz refresh rate. Still a bit behind on that one, apple. We've had accessible 144hz monitors for years at this point. Having a built in SD card port has made my use much more convenient for importing photos from my DSLR. The magsafe charging port is also excellent. No more worries about accidentally breaking the USB-C cable from tripping over the cable. The cable is also threaded and feels great. I appreciate the fingerprint sensor, but it's a little bit finicky. I have to hit space to wake the computer before using the fingerprint scanner or else the screen flickers and does weird things. I'm surprised to say, but I miss the touch bar. I used it for brightness and volume adjustment often and had it customized to take screenshots easily. But I LOVE the tactile ESC key. That's something I have always wanted back on the Macbook series. The keyboard is nice. I miss the metal backing to the keyboard, but that's not a deal breaker for me. The trackpad is as good as ever, no issues there. Overall, it's excellent. Well worth the investment. ... show more

  • Absolutely worth it!
Style: Apple M1 Pro Chip Capacity: 1 TB Color: Silver
Edit: To add to this review. I've noticed some people are complaining about USB ports. Please PLEASE do your research before you buy! It's all USB C ports. HDMI is great to use a Monitor, free's up a USB C port for other devices! The SDHC ports are also available, and absolutely necessary for the everyday Photographer, videographers. That don't use a C Fast memory card (Which most computers you'll need an adapter anyways, but anyone that used normal SD chips for their camera's, it's a great to use! My last windows computer didn't have one, and I ABSOLUTELY needed it, (it's all I could get at that time and luckily I had a USB Adapter) and really no cons. I'm always on this computer, always needing to edit something, and it's been great to have! Otherwise refer to my original review below this edit. It's absolutely fast. Faster than I expected it to be honest. This is my second ever Mac, coming from a renewed mod '09 MBP i got in '17. This Mac blows everything that I own out of the water. Battery lasts me ALL day. Depending on what I'm doing. If I'm editing in premiere pro, or after effects all day. It'll drain a lot faster. If i have Netlfix, YouTube, or Twitch running most of the day. It lasts quite a long time. Browsing and talking with people lasts nearly 2 days. I've had this a week now, and there are no faults with this unit. It came in great condition. No issues with the computer, no scratches and its box was in good condition. It's nice and smooth. The only thing that I don't like, is I can't tether Android. But that's Apple's fault. I can tether on El Capitan, 10.1 MacOS. But not Monterey 12.2.1. I assume it has to deal with the M1 chip though. Some programs don't work with the new M1 chip. But otherwise. No qualms with the package, and shipping was fast. ... show more

  • Way too expensive, but also the best laptop I've ever owned.
Style: Apple M1 Pro Chip Capacity: 1 TB Color: Silver
It needs to be about $1000 cheaper, especially if you don't get the pro max. It feels crazy to spend 3 grand on a laptop with no offboard 3d video card. However, once you get past the price, this is hands down the best laptop I've ever owned. It almost breaks the laws of physics we've gotten used to with portable devices. You can have battery life, or you can have speed, but you can't have both. Well you get both. This thing will happily do the most intensive rendering, gaming, whatever, on battery power and not bat an eyelash. I don't even recharge it daily or even bi daily. I charge it a few times a week....It's THAT good at running on battery. If you're not using it, it can go weeks in sleep mode and still wake up with lots of battery left. The display is amazing and there is little to no halo. If you took a photo of the screen and processed the image to make it brighter, sure you'd probably find a little blooming against black backgrounds, but in front of it, your eyes only see very bright highlights, and inky blacks. The sound is amazing. It isn't just a full sound, it's pretty flat and accurate sound considering it's a laptop. I often don't even reach for my headphones because there is nothing at all offensive about the built in speakers. It is a little chonky and on the heavy side compared to the Macbook Air I'm used to, but still very portable and a solid build. Gaming. It can do it. I don't know what gaming on Mac's is like with a Radeon card, but the apple silicon is more than capable of running games like Kerbal Space Program and Heroes of The Storm at 60+FPS and that is good enough for me. The on board storage is BLAZING fast, like >2000MB/s fast. If you have the space, this is a video editing power house between the fast on board storage, and ultra fast RAM speed. ... show more
