  • So far so good.
I have only had this for about 1 week and so far it works very well. I was a little disappointed to find out that I could not add another internal HD to the unit; but it isn't built with a large power supply; like my older pc has. For the money this is a good computer and will fit my needs well. The optical drive is very fast. I really like the size; it fits nicely on my desktop. I also really like the 4 front usb ports. My older one only had 2 front usb ports. I bought this to replace my 12yr old computer because: 1. it has a quad core; my old one has 3 cores. 2. I can use 16gb ram; my old one only uses 8Gb; and I need more than 8Gb of ram with Win10. The power supply is low wattage; so I would not recommend adding a lot of devices to it. ie extra optical drives, HD, graphic cards, sound cards, etc that would need to use more power. As a stand alone unit it seems to be very good and works well. This is not what I would call a real powerhouse pc. My old pc is because it has a 600watt power source; 2 internal HD; but can have 4; 2 internal optical drives; but had 3. I also had a graphics card that died. I had a lot of things in that computer that did not last the 12 years. Hey things wear out. That computer did not; it still runs well and is still very fast; it is just outdated. It also cost more than this one; about 2x as much and I put it together myself. It was also made to run Win7; which doesn't use as much ram as Win10 does. I believe that this unit is intended for light work loads. Good for working from home and browsing the internet. I think that it would also be good for streaming and playing videos. Plarium player works well on this machine too. This is a good unit for it's intended purpose at a low price. I thought that I was only going to receive the tower; but I also received a mouse a keyboard and a 2band WiFi toggle with bluetooth. The description showed 4 expandable slots; but I only found 2. As with many pre-fab computers not everything inside is made by Dell. The 1TB HD is a seagate; good solid company. I have a seagate hd in my old computer. Dell is a good trusted brand; I bought 2 of their laptops a couple of years ago and they still run well for what they were intended. If you want it for gaming; I don't know but; I would get a gaming computer with an I7 processor. I think the key to buying a computer is to know what your needs are and get the one that suits your needs. Do not just get something that looks good or that you think will work for you. Do the research first. Example: I bought my daughter a laptop because she needed one for her projects. The thing is she likes to have 8 things running on it at once and it was not made for that. It has an I3 single core processor; so it did not have the power for that. A processor with a single core is not good for downloading videos or movies because it takes forever. The WiFi adapter is only 2.4Ghz which is only 1/2 the speed of 5Ghz. Bottom line she expected more than it was designed for. When she first got it; it met her needs; but then her needs expanded. I read all the bad reviews about products offered on Amazon. I have never had these problems with anything that I have bought on Amazon. I think that is because I always buy from the Amazon recommended sellers and do not try to get the cheapest deal from the other sellers. This product from MST is made very well with a lot of TLC. It looks and works like brand new. That is what I expected it to do. ... show more

  • Unbelievable Bang fir Buck
This refurb Dell Optiplex gives me performance rivalling many new PC's. Intel quad-core architecture, ample memory and an industrial grade mobo deliver solid, lightning-fast responsiveness and multi-tasking capability to satisfy almost any power user. Though not a gamer's machine with mind-blowing graphics, it delivers outstanding performance in the ways that matter for a chump-change price. The Microsoft-approved refurbishment gives me confidence that this machine will serve me well for years to come. When it's time to upgrade, I'll look to this vendor first, who offers a wide array of desktops and laptops to fit the needs and budgets of just about anyone. Color me happy & satisfied. ... show more

  • Saved My Client Money
A client had a Dell Optiplex with a bad motherboard and power supply. After doing the math it was cheaper to purchase one of these units rather then replacing the motherboard and power supply. The PC arrived before the expected delivery date which made my client very happy. I ran hard diagnostics on the unit before delivery and everything performed as expected with no errors. I will be purchasing more of these units when the need arise. ... show more

  • Never buy a Used PC!
I thought this pc was working good but after the holidays it just crashed so never buy a used pc. I only got this cause it was so cheap $137. All i was doing was watching a youtube video in full screen and the processor freeze. It was also making vlc player freeze too and i was watching an episode of Family matters and it kept freezing every 5 seconds and i had to close the vlx player and play the episode again and i was so upset. I think it has a hardware issue because the hard drive is fine. I downloaded 4k videos on youtube watching them on vlc player and they play good on processors but my laptop doesn't play 4k videos on vlc player. I restarted the processor and now the Win 10 logo boot is taking too long. I am not gonna worry about this because i am getting a brand new one from dell that's $500. ... show more

  • Good for Web Browsing, Bad for Medium to Heavy Duty Gaming, Failed Dead after 6 months
Updated Review on 12-20-2020, appended extra words at end of this paragraph. I bought this Refurbished Dell 790 computer on 6-3-2020 thru Amazon, for kitchen table web browsing, and not for gaming. For gaming, I use a separate Intel i7-8700K 3.7GHz CPU with NVidia 2080ti Graphics card. It works find for web browsing, checking email, reading news, watching videos from web pages, using Amazon Prime Video, etc. But, it will not play any games other than the most simplistic video games. I bought this computer for the small form factor size, about 4" thick. But, with a 4" thick case and a 240 Watt power supply, you can not add in any video board that has graphics power for heavy duty games. If you can find one, it must be a low profile card, not standard profile. With the 240 watt supply, whenever I turn on a small fan on the same 120VAC circuit, the built in mother video circuit flashes (turns off, then back on) for a split second. I suspect that 240 Watts is barely powering this thing! In final, Good web browsing machine, email machine, etc. Don't expect much. Quality of case/product is good, as all dells are. I used dells for many years at Boeing/McDonnell Douglas. Roger Louie 9-4-2020 Updated Information appended to this review on 12-20-2020: This Refurbished Dell 790 has failed on this date. Somehow I suspect the power supply since I previously heard small amounts of weird buzzing from the machine, and most if computer parts do not make noise! Now, when I turn on the machine, the power button just flashes forever until held down for 5 seconds or so. The flash rate is roughly once per second. No sound or buzzing is present in this failed state. The bootup process does not proceed. No video signal is generated. No bios boot is attained. The warranty period is 3 months from purchase, so I'm out of luck. I paid about $135 for this machine, and learned my lesson, which is, don't expect too much from a "refurbished machine"!
