  • My son loved it!
Style: 200A 110/220V
Bought this for Christmas for one of my kids. Great bang for the buck! Performed better then I expected especially considering how small it is. Was able to weld engine parts together easily to make a lamp. Love the fact that it is duel voltage! Would highly recommend!

  • Certified welder
Style: 200A 110/220V
I have had this machine a few months now and I know the good and the not so good. On 110 it will do little repairs with 1/16 rod and 3/32 just don't push it. On 240 it indeed will burn 1/8 7018 but mine will hit the duty cycle before the whole rod will be consumed. I do like the weld profile, it resembles my Lincoln 305 weld. But I also can see that at higher amps the stability is not as solid . Will it replace my main welding machine,NO , is it a AWSOME tool in my box YES. Unlike others I am not a fan of the small size . But if they come out with a better more stable one I would like to have it. Update, was contacted to install a thumb kit on a mini excavator, I wanted to use my sunstac welder . Loaded up 8000watt generator, sunstac welder and went to the machine. Thumb was constructed of 3/8 and 1/2 inch steel plate. They were amazed to watch me get my little machine out and weld the kit to the boom with 6011 hot and 7018 on top so hot I almost burned through the 3/8 plate. Think I sold 3 of these welders for them that night. ... show more

  • I'm honestly surprised!
Style: 200A 110/220V
I'm a full time welder and run my own welding and fabrication business. I generally run AC stick welder and a Mig. I got this because I needed a DC stick welder on a budget. I have been searching on here for quite a while now but was honestly weary about the cheap ones after multiple bad reviews. I came across this one and it only had 1 single star review and the rest good. I decided to pull the trigger on it. I received it today and immediately unboxed and plugged into my 220. I have some 7018 1/8" rods I decided to start with and it ran them smooth as butter! Great penetration and all! I ran some 3/32 as well and those ran just as well. I even did a few shut off and ons to be sure the machine will come back on. It does set the amperage a little too high for 1/8" rod selection at like 137amps...1/8" runs fine at 115amp so you'll have to make sure you set the amperage right. All in all, I highly recommend. ... show more

  • Does not work
Style: 200A 110/220V
Motor turns on and you can hear the fan but does not weld and was told I could not return it so for that 1 star is light weight and easy to carry though

  • Satisfaction
Style: 200A 110/220V
This is a great little welder, for the price it is amazing. Worth every penny and great for most small job. Very satisfied with this purchase. I haven’t tried the lift tig option and only use it on mild steel.

  • Compact inverter stick welder
Style: 200A 110/220V
This welder is about the size of 2 loaves of bread stacked on one another. It weighs about 7.5 pounds on my digital fish scale. I already had a MIG and TIG welder, so this will round out my capability. Given my inexperience with stick welding, my comments on performance might not be helpful so I'll focus on the build quality and user interface. I personally like the way this unit looks - black case with blue graphics on the display. The case seems reasonably well build for this price point. There are hex head (with phillips) screws all the way around so you can definitely get inside. It is not riveted or anything cheap like that. The handle is plastic but thick, and plenty strong enough for a 7 pound welder. The display is bright and easy to see in full lighting. The knob is a detented rotary encoder that sets the amperage. For a 110/120v source, the amps can be set from 20 to 142 in stick welding mode and 15 to 142 in TIG mode. The "Mode" button toggles between stick and TIG. The mode and rod diameter buttons are both raised membrane type buttons. In stick mode, as you spin the dial through the amperage range, the display suggests an electrode diameter from 1/16", 3/32", 1/8", and 5/32". Alternatively, you can press the "Rod Dia" button to cycle through these and it will put the amp setting in the range for that size. There are 3 other settings (only available in stick welding mode) that are accessed by pushing in the dial knob. These are VRD, Hot start, and Arc force. You can cycle through them with repeated presses and spin the knob to change the setting. The included manual isn't bad (it has a wiring diagram) but it does not go into a lot of detail on these settings. It reads as if VRD is a safety feature to reduce the chance of shocks (at the expense of welding performance?), hot start boosts the initial current for arc starting and then backs it off, and arc force is a setting that affects the electrode's tendency to get stuck in the weld. The two terminals on the front are the same size so you can easily switch the polarity. The ground clamp seems decent for a budget clamp. The stinger is a tad more iffy. It doesn't open very much. I have not stick welded before so it might be normal, but I expected a bit more jaw movement. The manual indicates that there is overheat protection built in and provides the current capabilities at both 60 and 100 percent duty cycles. There is no built in gas solenoid so if you want to try TIG welding (steel only, no Aluminum) with this, you'll need a torch with a gas valve. There is no pedal input either, so you'd need to set the current on the welder and use that for the complete weld (unless you are crazy good at turning a knob while you TIG). The gas valve and pedal thing make the TIG capabilties here something that I doubt I would ever use - or only use if I just had to. So... I like it. It's what I expected. I hope it performs as good as it looks. I will edit to report back after I've chipped off some slag. ... show more

  • Pretty impressive
Style: 200A 110/220V
This thing has setting that the high end ones have. I ordered this to have something more portable that would burn a 1/8th inch rod. It does great and will run on a generator.
