  • fun remote control cars for kids
i get this remote control cars for my son's birthday. we have good time playing with them. here is what i like and don’t like: pros: very colorful lights and music, kids love it. easy to use, even for my 6 year old boy. two cars, good for playing with friends or parents. robots pop out when cars bump, very fun for children. strong material, cars don't break easily. cons: music can be little loud, not good for quiet time. batteries for remote control not included, need to buy separate. sometimes cars hard to control when go too fast. overall, my son and his friends really enjoy this toys. it's fun and exciting, good for gift. maybe just make sure to have extra batteries on hand. good toy for kids who like racing and lights. ... show more

  • Hard to control
Although the description claimed these cars could be used for toddlers 3 and 4, I found these remote controlled cars too difficult to control for youngsters of that age. The box says 8+ and that's more like it. The joystick controls are basically switches on and off. The cars run at full speed and cannot be finessed very well, and since steering is just changing drive wheels a lot of spinning goes on and actual control takes a lot of work. My son (age 36) and I tried them out before the grandkids, and even we had to run them for a while before we could get the hang of controlling them. They do seem sturdy as we crashed into each other repeatedly (my son even knocked off my head once) and they held up admirably. Battery life was about 20 minutes of constant running and charging is a pain. The battery has to be removed from the car and charged from a USB port. The lithium battery looked like an after-thought and that's probably why no external charging port is available. Maybe an upgrade is in the works. ... show more

  • Fun for the whole family
I originally ordered these for my 8 year old son and nephew but they wound up being played with by the adults ad well. They are so much stinking fun. They came with both cars, remotes, little people, and rechargeable batteries for the cars ( the remotes take 2 AA batteries each). They were easy to charge, easy to drive and the instructions were clear. They are pretty easy to control and the 8 year olds had no issueses controlling them. The cars do play music, which is not my style, but luckily you can turn them off. The cars hold a charge for quite a while and they are made very well. We had so much fun having battles with them. ... show more

  • Loads of fun
These cars are a load of fun. My 6 year old son and I have had a ton of battles with these cars. He’s getting to the age of being competitive so he will find me just to challenge me. These cars move faster than I expected them too and they are fairly easy to use. The driver pops out if the sides are bumped. They look pretty well made and offer hours of battle throughout their lifetime. So far they have held up well. ... show more

  • More Frustrating than Joyful
Here goes. This is going to be a long one. I am a harsh critic when it comes to toys. I consider toy making to be an art form. Starting with the car. Circuitry is provided within the driver’s head so that the car becomes inert when the driver (involving a crash, presumably with the other car), is decapitated. I will leave the moral and psychological implications of this to others. Flags (2 with each car) and engine components (2 with each car) are meant to become debris (along with the head) upon a collision. I would ditch the flags and glue on the engine components. Getting into the battery compartment requires the removal of a Phillips head screw (not retained and easily lost). The two provided screwdrivers are incompatible with the screw head and the shaft head is too thin for easy manipulation of child (or grand parent). A rechargeable battery is provided for the car in a compartment designed for 3 AA batteries. The gender matched connector is minute and means to unlatch not immediately apparent. Too fiddly for child or grandparent. Another minute gender matched connector needs to be attached for charging with a usp wall wart. The wall wart is not provided. The battery needs to be placed on a diagonal to go into the battery box and the wires need to carefully placed in order for the battery box cover to be attached without causing damage to same. Fiddly and poor design. On the good side, I liked the method used to steer the car by the differential between driving the front and rear wheels. This makes the car more robust than if conventional steering mechanism was used. Mating the car with the controller was very simple and quick. Car speed was excellent. Spinning in tight circles was excellent. I only used within 20 foot radius so have no idea range over that. Silicone or similar tires were used and car had good traction on resilient flooring. The controller used 2 AA batteries (not supplied) and the cover required removal of another Phillips head screw. Not retained. Screws are redundant with a door clasp and I would discard (same for car). No other issues with controller other than on/off switch not marked. In short, the product is an assemblage of mis matched components and charging the car requires care and skill unknown to those outside the electronics industry. Intended user’s age is somewhere between 8 to 11, but will require considerable attention from a skilled young adult or similar to keep charged. ... show more

  • Lots of fun
Our nine year old grandson is loving this bumper car set so much. Easy to setup and get going. A lot of fun to play with. It's nice that it's charging so you don't go through a ton of batteries.

  • Impact must be to the button on the side
I had seen other competitors and what I didn't like is that the impact HAD to be from the side, precisely to the button to make the driver pop out. The reason I went with this one is because the video shows the pressure spots are ALSO in the front and back that make the driver pop out. That is way more fun because you get more popping action. BUT, that is not the case. False advertising in the video. This is just like all the other ones where the impact has to be to the buttons on the side. Hitting the front or the back doesn't pop the driver. I think other brands were cheaper, but definitely shop around if price is important to you. This one isn't any different than the others. The pros is that these cars are bigger than I thought they would be, so it makes it slightly easier to collide into the sides. The cars each have rechargeable batteries. And my 5 year old and 2.5 year old have a blast playing with these cars. ... show more
