I really like modern-day LED-based digital clocks, and I have replaced all my prior generation clocks with this kind, except for a few AA battery-operated specialty clocks. The numerals are crisp and easy to read, and they now come with additional features regarding colors and dimming. The fact that they usually need to be plugged into a power outlet is okay for most settings, such as desk and counter tops, night stands, bathrooms, etc. This clock's numerals look like older LCD displays in their shape and function, but these have the advantage of having different color choices, a wider range of dimming, and additional features such as temperature, calendar date, and a count-down timer. But this isn't a clock you could use in any room, due to its size, primarily. It's designed to be a wall clock, readable from anywhere in a larger room, such as a kitchen, game room, family room, etc. I plan on using it in my double garage. It will stand on a counter or desk top, but it has a larger footprint than you may have room for. Being a wall clock, having a full-function remote is ideal. Many of the settings you will make only occasionally, but not having to get it down from the wall is a big convenience, especially if you plan on using the alarm or countdown timer functions. It comes with a large format instruction manual, written in clear, correct English. The only drawback I can see for some folks is this clock needs to be plugged into an wall outlet, not a USB port. It has an internal battery, but that's only for keeping settings in case of a power outage. This may be unexpected and seemingly counter-intuitive, as we've all gotten used to wall clocks that operate just fine on a single AA battery. They are reasonably accurate and rarely need a new battery. But those simple analog clock mechanisms require a miniscule amount of power. Multifunction LED clocks--especially with larger displays--need a more stable and reliable power source than even rechargeable lithium batteries can provide, especially if you're interested in accuracy, and having to recharge a clock periodically would be unacceptably inconvenient. I haven't done comparison shopping so can't speak to retail value. ... show more

    • Great clock, easily visible
This clock is nice. I've been looking for a clock I can read from across the room with my glasses off, and this is it. It has all the features you expect of a modern digital clock, and a few extras like the timer. Everything, including setting the time, is controlled by a handy remote. Given that I, like many people, tend to put clocks out of reach, that's really handy. Also, it can display 24-hour time (there's a button to select that), which I prefer. There's a button-cell battery in there somewhere to back up the settings when the power is out. The lighting is interesting. You have a choice of the colors you'd expect from a clock -- a choice of green, red, blue, and white -- plus four color-changing modes that fade through the whole spectrum. You have your choice of side to side, top to bottom, or bottom to top. I'll admit to spending more time than I really should have watching my new clock slowly change colors! It comes with mounting screws, wall anchors, and a template. There are keyhole slots on the back for hanging. The one minor down side is that it is dependent on its own power brick instead of USB, but it has a nice long cord. Highly recommended. The display is very crisp and clear. The dimmer changes it from almost invisible in bright light (this will be very useful in a dark room!) to quite bright. The one feature I wish it had would have been auto-dimming, because it's in a bedroom, but it's just a few taps on a button on the remote. That remote, by the way, is clearly designed to be a clock remote, instead of a repurposed light control. And conveniently, it has (in teeny text) descriptions of the use of some of the buttons -- for instance, "set" says to hold for 2 seconds to enter set mode. ... show more

Let's face it, I'm a clock junkie! (LoL) So I had to check it out. It arrived in an attractive and safe packing/box. Features galore! You can read about them in the description but I'll repeat them here quickly: Remote control. Countdown timer. Alarm. Military or "civilian" time option. Day of week. Temperature (in C or F). Month number. Year. 5 levels of brightness. Automatic DST/standard time. 8 color display options. Alarm status. Backup battery to hold settings (if power interrupted). I love everything about this clock. Except it is corded. I understand making a clock with all these options and big display would require a heck of a battery (and increase the cost). But it is advertised as a wall clock. Typically, a wall clock finds itself 5 or 6 feet up on a wall. Near eye level. While the description especially notes it is powered by plug in, none of the photos show a cord. I don't think the average person would want to mount this wall clock and see a 6 foot cord dangling down to an outlet. The cord is black. I mounted mine above a small TV in order to hide the plug wire. If you don't mind the cord showing, then I highly recommend this trendy-looking clock. I cannot comment on its accuracy as that would take some time to determine. Finally, mounting screws are included with plastic anchors. The clock is very light and making a hole for the anchors in your drywall is probably unnecessary. I used two small nails and have no worries about it falling. ... show more
