I like the aqua color of these, which is fun and unique, but they're just so... BIG. Too big for a 5LB weight, which is typically the smallest dumbell size in a set. I purchased these to help recover an injury, and the large size makes them awkward. Also not a good fit for kids or teens for this same reason. ... show more

This pair of 5lb dumbbells is pretty great. They weigh in at just shy of 5lbs on my scale and are made of molded plastic with weights inside of it. The left over plastic on the seam isn't razor sharp but they aren't the nicest to hold until I cut off the remainder pieces. Overall, the remaining plastic from the molding process isn't the best but they are almost 5lbs and work great for our needs. These are a bit on the large size which I personally like, somehow smaller weights just feel weird to me as I remember the free weights back in the day. Both my wife and I use these and really like the grips on them. The grip has just the right amount of cushion to it to make it comfortable to hold over time. These are a little larger than I expected but I do like the look and feel of these weights. They have a good comfortable grip. They look like they are metal but they are coated with a plastic like material that is pretty sturdy.

First of all, I do believe that the weights are a nice value. It seems like weights can get quite pricey. I ordered the purple color but they are definitely way more pink than purple, so if I had realized this, I would have likely ordered a different color. They are only 5lbs each which is all I was looking for, so they are lightweight overall. They sit in our yoga section.
