  • I hate getting shocked!
I have this tester hanging on a fence surrounding 2 garden plots. With the light, I can see (at night) from a distance that the fence is operational.

  • Zareba Electric Fence Tester A1LVT-Z is good for what it cost
Test works as expected! Seems to me a bit fragile…but for the price, it’s ok. It works great.. Not sure how long it’ll hold up.. Time will tell… I’m going to wrap electrical tape to secure where wire is attached to probe…

  • It's nothing fancy but it works
Only thing I hate about this thing is that its MADE IN CHINA. Unfortunately its hard to find things that aren't anymore. If I could I would not have bought this one. Its not of really high quality but it works. You stick the probe in the ground and touch the other end to the fence. If the fence is energized the light lights up. That's it. I don't think it would alert you if you had other issues shorting your fence, such as weeds, because this creates a path of lesser resistance from the fence to ground. However, it beats touching your finger to the fence to make sure you have everything connected and turned on. We use it more as a double check to make sure the fence is on after we have had it off working in the garden. For that it works great. ... show more

  • Brighter diode, please
It's cheap, yes, but unfortunately, "cheap" applies at every level. Squint as I could, there was no way to see the read out before dusk. Only the price makes this passable.

  • Just enough... Maybe.
Effective enough... Just barely. Our hit wire is about five feet off of the ground. It just barely reached enough to ground the device.

  • Ground probe came unsoldered after 1 use, easy to fix, just have spend money on shrink wrap.
It worked, it was cheap, not worth retuning, just have to get new shrink wrap and resolder.

  • Worked for me
I used this to test my electric fence because I didn't want to have to grab on to the wire and shock myself to see if I was getting a signal. Still not sure how strong my fence voltage is, but the light indicator lit up on the furthest part of my fence, so I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt.
