I’ve read the reviews and didn’t expect heavy cattle fencing like others did for the price, but I’m using this on my garden to keep animals out. I’ll be fastening it to locust posts. This will be perfect. 4ftx164ft for $145 is a deal compared to big box stores. The packaging utterly sucks and was torn apart on arrival on both ends. Cardboard boxes alone can’t handle the 40+ pounds of weight plus the sharp edges of the fence. It should be secured in plastic or foam so the metal don’t wear out the box and the box should be taped and secured to where the item does not roll around. Due to bad packaging the top of the fencing has some bends that’ll have to be straightened out during placement. With that being said I’m happy with my purchase and will be getting more eventually. Just do better packaging and it’ll be much better on arrival. Edit: I got the fence up and even on the uneven ground on my hill this fence was malleable enough to get it in the position I needed without have to cut and re-angle it. With the top strand of barb wire added no deer will get in. Awesome deal! ... show more

I returned this. Thankfully Amazon provided a no-hassle return. I thought this was a great price for what I was expecting, and I was having trouble sourcing a 5' fence anywhere near where I lived. However, when it arrived, it was obvious that the gauge was NOT as advertised and the height was shorter than listed. The wire was easily a 14g or thinner. I had purchased this for tree rings for elk and deer protection. The animals would have smashed it flat without any problem. ... show more

    • Rolling into tubes and making individual plant protection barriers for deer.

Deer eat everything here - even boxwood. Deer resistance means nothing. So far the only thing they haven't eaten is daffodils. A full fence around the property isn't practical, so instead I'm using this fence to create tubes to protect the new plants. Roll into a tube, but with wire cutters bend the loose ends so it stays in shape. Add thin cheap plastic bird netting around the tube (that's actually the most difficult part) and hey presto you have a plant protector of the size / height you want. :-) Get u-shaped hooks and use 3 or 4 (if a tall tube) and the deer won't bother / can't get to your plants... I've tried a bunch of things - fishing line, soap, bells, - all visually more appealing, but they didn't work. This does. ... show more

Very, very thin, cheap fencing. The only thing this fencing is good for is to hold in chickens or other birds!! not dogs, sheep or goats. Don’t waste your money on this CHEEP ASS product!!! buy a better quality fencing and save yourself the hassle.
