Description

Purple Leaf Sand Cherry is a deciduous shrub that when mature can have a height of 6-10 feet tall and a spread of 5-8 feet. It is recognizable by its reddish purple foliage that keeps its color all summer. Ovate-elliptical leaves (to 2” long) with serrate margins are a distinctive and attractive reddish purple. Fragrant, solitary, white flowers (1/2” across) with pink tints bloom in spring (April) after the foliage emerges. Flowers give way to an often meager production of small blackish-purple fruits (to 3/4”) that mature in July. Fruits are eaten by birds. Requires full sun in zones 2-8. Plants ship dormant in the winter months. Images shown are of full mature plants. Planting instructions will be included with purchase.

Fast shipping from Tennessee to Colorado. Delivery person poked a hole in the box, why? Who knows? Plants are un harmed. They had plenty of cushion for protection. Placed them on my kitchen counter till I plant them tomorrow. They are standing straight up on their own and still have plenty of moisture in them. They are about 2 to 2.5 feet tall.
