  • Solid set
Style: Jeep XJ/YJ Dana 30 front Model 35 rear 4...
It comes with Timken bearings and Spicer seals. It didn't come with the right seal for my dana 30 so I did have to buy a set separately wich was pretty annoying and don't come with axle bearings and output seals for dana 35 but the components that are there are good quality

I dont think its sellers fault but amazon says these will fit a 2000 xj but 2000 is when the xj swapped to low pinion dana 30s with standard rotation so these will not fit even though amazon says they will

  • Nice complete set!
Style: Jeep JK Rubicon 5.38 Ratio
This job isn't for the faint at heart. That being said, everything about this job that sucks has to do with disassembly. Finding the correct tools, stuck parts, seized bearings, etc. Assembly was awesome. This set includes everything required and then some. Two sets of ring gear bolts for both front and rear to cover two different sizes, plenty of loctite, black RTV, yellow gear pattern layout paint, two crush sleeves for each front and rear seats, Timken bearings, a ton of shims, and plenty of decals to finish the job. I had good patterns front and rear with little to no adjustment. Get a 2 gallon jug of oil, that'll cover both ends as well as an oil change after break-in. As for ratio, I couldn't be happier. 4:10 is too high for 3.8 auto, 5:38 pulls way better and I still tach 2300 or so at 60mph with 33s. As for mileage, I feel it will stay the same if not improve by preventing low RPM lugging of the engine with insufficient torque. My trip computer is showing improvement if that means anything to you. I used OBDJscan to program gear ratio and tire size, speedo is dead on with my phone GPS. Go to the Yukon website for more updated bolt torque info than is provided in the leaflet. Good luck, happy Jeeping. See you on the trails! Update 10/5/22 I've been running this set for a few months now and have had zero issues. I changed the oil out after initial break-in and inspected the gears, and looked for bearing debris in the case, oil was dark with the expected goo-like filings around the magnet. No large or shiny bits at all. Gears and bearings are quiet. Fuel mileage has decreased slightly in town, haven't put enough highway miles on to say about highway mileage. Hoping to get 35" tires soon so that will play a huge part in the equation. ... show more

  • A complete rebuild kit, but I think next time I'll go with another brand.
Style: Jeep JK Rubicon 5.38 Ratio
The Good: Everything you need is in the box. Shims/bearings/extra crush sleeve/gear paint/new bolts Instructions are well laid out for someone experienced with this type of install Took two full days and for myself and someone well experienced to completely overhaul both Diffs as well rebuild U-joints in a well equiped Farm Shop. (This included a trip to the parts store, lunch breaks and beer breaks) The Bad: Yukons Torque specs for the Dana 44 (55ftlbs) and Dana 44 JK (125ftlbs) ring gear bolts were misleading. I'm working on a JKRubicon which does have D44 front and rear, however the front is not as robust as the rear. We took the "jk" specs and torqued the front to match the rear and spun a bolt before realizing we needed the D44 specs. The rear gear on the Rubicon uses larger bolts that can handle the load, the front are smaller and cannot. Luckily the supplied bolt failed before the carrier/ring did so it was salvagable. I just think the instruction book should state "Dana 44 JK Rear/Rubicon" The Ugly: Pinion Gear, Bearing Race (and even their chromoly axles) came chipped and damaged. I'd like to blame the axles on UPS as they were wrapped loosely in plastic and could have been banged around when handled. But the race and pinion gears were very well protected, vacuum sealed and wrapped in styrofaom with undamaged boxes. I could only assume this came from the factory in this way. This next fault is above my knowledge so bare with me. According to my mechanic and his boss, there was some sort of pre-written depth that was to be etched on the gears from testing in the factory. They've used this info in the past on TJ's, JK's, Ford's and several drag vehicles to help with their own projects. however were very upset at this kit, a couple homemade jigs were bolted onto my axle housing to confirm their suspisions and after several measurements and some head scratching I was told "throw those numbers out" Performance: I have a 2008 JKR 3.8L w/auto trans on toyo 35x12.5x17 AT's. Before-17.5hwy 1900rpm @65mph with lots of downshifting. After- 16.5hwy/13city 2500rpm @65mph and it doesnt give a damn about hills anymore. In 4-lo it will crawl up mild trails with no input from the throttle, moderate trails take 1/4 the amount of skinny pedal to get up. So much torque to the ground, its amazing. I've put ~2500 miles on these gears with a mix of long hwy trips, city commutes and rough days on the trails and I havent heard or felt any bad noises from either the front or rear and imagine that when I go to 37's it'll still feel like I have plenty of power. ... show more

35" tyres. 3.73 ratio. My Wrangler was one hell of a slouch and such a pain to drive. With the 4.88 Yukon set the absolute joy of this vehicle has returned. You will definitely not regret this upgrade in any way at all. This engine loves the higher revs at 5th gear and delivers better fuel efficiency against the airflow on that flat windscreen. My installer loved this set and there is zero noise of any kind between this and stock. ... show more

  • horrible warranty...
Style: Jeep JK non-Rubicon 4.56 Ratio
Bought these gears in August 2021, had them installed into my jeep JKU with 35" tires in October 2021. Here we are in march 2023 and the pinion gear broke. Vehicle is mainly a pavement princess, rarely even driven on grassy parking lots..... Called Yukon and discovered they only have a 12 month warranty on them by default unless you buy their Y.E.S. extension within 30 days of buying the gears for the lifetime warranty..... I didn't even know about the Y.E.S. programs as I ordered them off Amazon. Very disappointed as I thought I had bought a quality product..... I am now reading reviews out there with similar problems..... Stay away from this brand.... the attached pictures are of the exploded pinion gear after 15 months and 7500 miles of blacktop driving, never in mud once... Cheap steel most likeley or horrible heat treating ... show more
