  • Works Great!
I have a custom garden shed that looks like a Japanese Tea House. The doors consist of a hot dipped galvanized double hung 8’ tall by 5’ wide 800 pound gate, behind that there is a custom Clopay industrial rollup door. When looking at both combined together, gives the illusion of a Japanese Shoji Door on a tea house. The industrial rollup door occasionally requires adjustments, have been using a couple steel rods when adjusting the rollup door. At times the steel rods have slipped because they were not designed for that purpose (got them from a metal fabrication shop). The Yonsin Winding Rods (already used them) have a knurled texture surface (same as safety grab bars in showers) on the end that is inserted into the spring loaded rollup door mechanism, and the side you grip has a thick anti-slip rubber coating. It also came with a set of gloves that did come in handy because there are sharp edges on parts of the rollup door. I pay a garage door company to service my garage door once a year, despite my knowing how to adjust our garage door. And every time one of the technicians come to service our garage door, always drop their steel winding rods (that do not have an anti-slip coating on the handle side.) These winding rods will last a life time since I always wipe down my tools once done and occasionally put a light coat of WD40 to prevent rust. The only way these rods could be improved would be if it was madevout of stainless steel. ... show more

  • Well Designed Tool For This Operation
Foam coating on the handle end of the rod helps to maintain a secure grasp while the diamond (rhomboid?) embossed pattern at the spring collar end aids in positive registration of the rod in the tensioning collar winding holes. At 7/16” diameter the winding rods do have some clearance in the winding collar sockets for easy insertion and removal but were able to go into the collar the full 3/4” depth of the socket. This depth and the knurled pattern on the rod affords a positive registration feeling when winding the spring. Although the seller does not claim this, the rods may be of a better quality steel than the local hardware or big box stores' generic 1/2” steel rod, or they may have been heat treated as they have a slight higher pitch ring to them when struck against each other. In any event, they appear to be of high quality such that bending or breaking should not be an issue. Finally, the gloves will fit most hands and have those tractive dots across the palms to increase grip on the rods and reduce the possibility of slippage. ... show more

  • Perfect!
I have wrestled with garage door springs several times over the years and always wished that I had a set of winding rods to do it properly and safely. Messing with torsion springs is a dangerous undertaking. If you intend to adjust torsion springs yourself, these rods that were made specifically for the task are a must. They are long enough to give you the necessary leverage to rotate the spring collar. Also, they are knurled to help then stay inserted and less chance of slipping out. Nice grips on the other end of the rods and a bonus pair of gloves to help you hold on. These are great! Messing with torsion springs is a dangerous thing, so use the proper tools, be careful, and be safe! ... show more

  • Well Made and and Essential Safety Tool for Garage Door Maintenance
I recently experienced a garage door spring breakage, and after installing a new spring, I realized the importance of having the right tools for the job. I ordered these Winding Rods to assist with winding the spring to the correct tension, and they proved to be invaluable. Not only did they allow me to safely rotate the spring to the desired tension, but the design also facilitates easy removal or adjustment if necessary. These rods are well-made, and the patterned tip ensures a secure grip in the winding cone. While you may not need these frequently, they are a worthwhile investment for the occasional maintenance tasks. Considering the affordable price, these rods are a small investment for the safety they provide, and certainly much cheaper than a trip to the ER. ... show more

  • Money Saver
These rods are solid and will save a lot of money when needed. I had a spring on one side of my door that was loose and found that it needed to be replaced. I was quoted an unreasonable amount to replace the one spring. I purchased the spring and now that I have these rods, the install went perfect. They may not get used a lot but when needed you will save a good bit of money. Recommend buying these. ... show more

  • Good Metal rodes for door spring adjustment.
Got these to put a few more twist on my rear shop door that barely held it up. worked well. I was just going to use some rebar but these are a bit more rigid and worked well.

  • These worked great for my adjustment
My single garage door was slamming down pretty hard, and when I checked the balance, I realized the spring needed to be tightened. These winding rods worked perfectly! They of course fit in the holes for adjustment, but they also have a small diamond texture on the ends for grip. The other end has a nice foam end for comfort on the hands. They're solid and nice and heavy, too. I decided to not use the included knit gloves. I think they were thrown in as a bonus, but I wouldn't feel safe using them for this. ... show more

  • They fit and they're strong.
They fit very well in the piece that you use to adjust the spring tension on my garage door. The rods are solid steel and are very strong. The rubber cover on the handle is sturdy as well.
