  • The Real Deal
My original Review was on the Muslady Golden Horse, which is no longer available. I believe this model is identical. purchased the Mosky Golden Horse from Muslady, through Amazon. First, excellent delivery. I ordered it at about 6AM and I had it the same day by 6PM. When I received it I was initially concerned because nowhere on the pedal did it say Mosky, just Muslady. I'll give you a little background. I'm 68 and have been playing the guitar since age 13. My first guitar was a 1962 Hagstrom Viking - think 335 copy. I soon graduated to a new Gibson SG Standard. Since then I have owned hundreds of guitars and amps. In addition to being a Musician, I've been interested in electronics sice age 7. I built Crystal Radios to start, and graduated to building Tube Radios, and finally solid-state. Since 1977 I've been a licensed Extra Class Ham Radio Operator. I worked in the Electronics Industry for Tektronix and later for Hewlett Packard. My current main Guitar/Amp Rig is a Marshall Origin 20. I've never used pedals, other than an original VOX Wah Wah. Most of my Amps have had built-in Reverb, which I use. The Origin 20 lacks a Reverb, so I purchased a Mosky Reverb Pedal. I couldn't believe how great the Reverb Pedal was. I took it apart, and the circuit was 100% genuine. It uses the same IC Chips as the Belton Brick Reverb Module. So I next added a Rowin Blues Pedal. Wow, another great sounding pedal. Then a KLIQ TinyTune Tuner Pedal. And finally, the Mosky Golden Horse. I removed the rear cover from the Golden Horse and the PC Board is clearly marked "Mosky". But that's just the beginning - I am Blown Away because this pedal is the "Real Deal". 100% KLON CENTAUR! From the two Germanium Diodes, to the OP AMPS, to the Voltage IC - all the components match the values of the Original Klon Centaur. A real Centaur runs over $7,000 to purchase used. This Mosky uses the same value components, many of them Surface Mount rather than Thruhole, FOR UNDER $30! Now there's no excuse for not owning the real deal, a Klon Centaur Clone. In closing, I'm currently purchasing all my instruments and accessories online, from Amazon. They have the widest selection of music gear, and their customer service is usually excellent. If you're "on the fence" regarding ordering this pedal - order it, you can't go wrong. ... show more

  • Great-Sounding Pedal!
I don’t know how close to a Klon this is, but Josh Scott from JHS think it sounds like one, so that’s good enough for me! The pedal sounds so good and so versatile I don’t care what it is! Plus it’s cheap & tiny, what’s not to love? I’d recommend this to anyone looking for a pedal that can be a clean boost or an overdrive, it’d be a great addition to any Pedalboard. It’s an excellent pedal, mine will be a studio queen, so I’m not too worried about how tough it is. ... show more

  • What everyone else has said!
Great for the price. I got this yesterday and I'm impressed. I compared it against my Timmy MXR Custom Shop mini pedal and it definitely gives a different tone. It provides a little more sustain and the tone can adjusted from pristine clean to grinding dirty. Overall the ambient noise level is adequate, about on par with any other pedals, when the gain goes up, just a little more noise. The Treble adjustment is very nice. I agree that it may not sound exactly like a Klon Centaur but unlike other reviews I had no issues with the quality control, mine worked fine. I do agree that the LED light is blinding, which is pretty odd criticism. As a clean boost I've read its best after another drive but I haven't found the absolute best spot. I can't speak to the durability yet but I'll update my review if I have issues. I kind of expect a $28 pedal to not last too long so we'll see. Still, a lot of range here for your buck. ... show more

  • So worth it, but even MORE surprisingly great!
HIGHLIGHTS: - Using a tube amp (like you SHOULD if you want to scrutinize subtleties of tone) - BLOWN AWAY by the quality of sound in this tiny pedal ***** - 5 stars, because real Klon should be breaking the rules and have 6 stars if you overlook price My story after 10min: (I haven't played a real Klon, but listened intently to duels, etc) Everyone loves the effect of a Klon - sweet tone with fullness and drive on tap. No one likes the price (it's up to $7000 now?!?) I watched the Anderton's blind Klon shootout and settled on their result of the Tumnus as the affordable option to achieve the same great sound, and who knows, I may still want that pedal someday. Recently I spotted an article about this Mosky Golden Horse and I thought "$30 is a decent shot in the dark that won't hurt I'd the pedal sucks. If is not 'Klon' at all at least it can be a booster or another flavor of drive for cheap." Man, this pedal is surprising! Plugged it in - settings at 12 - and noticed an immediate improvement on the clean channel of my Crate VC30 (tube) It boosted up the tone: I noticed more lows and crisp highs, I heard the snappy/spanky response of the pluck of the string, and then I got to work on the drive/output for getting a little drive in the sound. It was responsive and natural sounding, very pleasant, and has a wide range as it should. Do yourself a favor and give this pedal a try if you don't want to pay $100s or $1000s. It may not be perfect, but it is really, really good, and at $30 it's a STEAL! ... show more
